How do you resolve a conflict between powerful spirits of famous heroes for a prize capable of granting any wish? Wage a war that will cost your blood, sweat, and tears? Too much work—how about a game-show competition instead?

Carnival Phantasm takes a number of characters from Type-Moon's original works, and puts them in a variety of light-hearted scenarios which parody their respective series. Watch Lancer suffering due to his low luck stat, or watch the egotistical King of Heroes gladly kneel to a dominatrix King of Knights. Just remember to leave your sanity at the door.

Okay. So, we have two quite serious franchises most well known for their Visual Novels, Anime... One of them having an anime, and strangely their Fighting Games too. What could we do with them next?

Make a spin-off? Okay... Give it to a freshman company that could ruin it all? Alright...
The result?

Carnival Phantasm is an OVA Comedy Sketch Anime based on the Manga called Take-MOON which was written by Type-MOON's Eri Takenashi to celebrate Type-MOON's 10th Anniversary.

As a gigantic Type-Moon fan, I recognize that this review may be a bit biased. Indeed, if you aren't familiar with any of the characters in Fate stay/night or Tsukihime, or the universe both stories take place in (aptly named the "Nasuverse" by fans after the author, Kinoko Nasu), then don't expect to enjoy it nearly as much as I did. On the other hand, if you are familiar with anything Type-Moon, then prepare for the best parody series in recent memory. In short, your knowledge of Type-Moon lore is directly proportional to the amount of enjoyment you will get out of this series. read more

Story- This don't need no story, its basically a whole bunch of comedic skits, so the presence of story is neither needed nor wanted

Art - It is an ONA so art isn't really gonna be that good considering the budget ONA's get, but the use of simplistic art favors the humor, in fact it wouldn't have been as good if the art was high budget.

Sound - Best Opening ever made, in all of creation.

Characters - All the Type Moon Characters, made brilliantly hilarious. Best Type Moon Fan service ever

Enjoyment - This represents that maximum read more

This is perhaps the best fanservice anime I've seen to date. You may think...Fanservice? But how can it be fanservice if there are no well endowed, scantily clad female characters in there? Well lets just say that's the beauty of this show. Carnival Phantasm is literally servicing the loyal Type-Moon fans that have been following their works over the last 12 years. With that being said, this show is not for everyone. If you do not have an extensive knowledge of Nasuverse from playing Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night(The anime for these two sucked therefore you have to play the games), Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (Fate/Zero novels optional with read more
