As a gigantic Type-Moon fan, I recognize that this review may be a bit biased. Indeed, if you aren't familiar with any of the characters in Fate stay/night or Tsukihime, or the universe both stories take place in (aptly named the "Nasuverse" by fans after the author, Kinoko Nasu), then don't expect to enjoy it nearly as much as I did. On the other hand, if you are familiar with anything Type-Moon, then prepare for the best parody series in recent memory. In short, your knowledge of Type-Moon lore is directly proportional to the amount of enjoyment you will get out of this series.

Carnival Phantasm - THE GREATEST THING EVER CREATED BY THE HUMAN RACE
Story- This don't need no story, its basically a whole bunch of comedic skits, so the presence of story is neither needed nor wanted Art - It is an ONA so art isn't really gonna be that good considering the budget ONA's get, but the use of simplistic art favors the humor, in fact it wouldn't have been as good if the art was high budget. Sound - Best Opening ever made, in all of creation. Characters - All the Type Moon Characters, made brilliantly hilarious. Best Type Moon Fan service ever Enjoyment - This represents that maximum ... This is perhaps the best fanservice anime I've seen to date. You may think...Fanservice? But how can it be fanservice if there are no well endowed, scantily clad female characters in there? Well lets just say that's the beauty of this show. Carnival Phantasm is literally servicing the loyal Type-Moon fans that have been following their works over the last 12 years. With that being said, this show is not for everyone. If you do not have an extensive knowledge of Nasuverse from playing Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night(The anime for these two sucked therefore you have to play the games), Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (Fate/Zero novels optional with

First of all I have not watch the 2 animes "Fate/Stay night" and "Shingetsutan Tsukihime," were I can't say if it is related to this 15min omake, so let get down and dirty, my ratings:
Story- Fair 6. Let's be honest, there is no story and there's no plot either. This is no longer related to any of the 2 animes mentioned, instead this is more of a parody with a lot of slapstick comedy in it. Art- Mediocre 5. Ok, so far everything about the art of this omake is still the same as those from the 2 animes where it is based from. ... Sep 12, 2011
Bluntly put, Carnival Phantasm is not an anime for people who are unacquainted with the world of Kinoko Nasu (Fate/STay Night, Tsukihime, and to a lesser extent Kara no Kyoukai). Bluntly, it is a series of shorts commemorating the 10th anniversary of Type-Moon and Kinoko Nasu`s works. If you have never watched either of the two, you will only be confused by the characters who phase in and out with no explanation whatsoever. That said, Carnival Phantasm will bring a smile to your face if you are a fan of Type-moon, and confusion to anyone who hasn`t.
-Story- ...what story? Carnival Phantasm, as ... Jul 22, 2013
If you're a big Type-Moon fan, this anime is very close to your fantasy anime as it covers Type-Moon's 2 very popular works Tsukihime and Fate/ Stay Night.
Episode 4 , 12 and the HibiChika Special will be the best episodes if you're into the harem side of the whole thing. Nothing much to say other than you will either enjoy this or not depending on how much you love Type-Moon. It's definitely one of my favorites. As a big Type-Moon fan, the only thing beating this anime would be an animation of the manga "All Around Type-Moon" as that covers more Type-Moon series not just Tsukihime and ... Jan 29, 2012
Tsukihime was my 1st anime that made me start my anime addict life, the 2nd anime for me to watch right after Tsukihime was Fate Stay Night. I never knew they were under Type Moon until I checked MAL a few months later. After my cousin told me that they were going to make an anime with both of them put together, I was excited and eagerly waiting until it was released.
A couple weeks before the start of the anime I thought that it was going to be filled with tons of fighting and character rivalry. Then my cousin sent the opening to the anime ... Jan 23, 2012
This review is from a person who thought Shingetsutan Tsukihime was a decent anime and I liked Fate/Stay Night but I can say without a doubt that I loved Carnival Phantasm. These 12 episodes will most probably crack you up if you like TYPE-MOONs works. And while I may seem to exaggerate with the review I just have to say that this is how I felt when I watched this show.
Story - 10 These episodes is only made for laughing and I can say that they succeeded. What can you possible ask for more than for example: Berserker goes out to buy batteries and Saber works ... Dec 3, 2012
Ah, the Nasuverse. What a horrible place filled with murder, rape, war, and suicide. God knows what was going on in the head of the person who thought up Carnival Phantasm. God knows what he was thinking when he decided to make a light hearted comedy featuring the nasuverse. I just want to say this one thing to the man who thought up Carnival Phantasm. You sir, are a genius.
Now, to start off this review let's start with the story. The story.... is pretty much non existent. It's pretty much the characters of the Nasuverse, Fate/stay night and Tsukihime in particular, meeting and dicking around. ... Feb 2, 2017
So, you take a violent juggernaut franchise that started out as a visual novel with H-rated content aka Fate/Stay, and less popular franchises of the same universe (with Tsukihime being the one of the bunch with the most screentime), and turn their violent asses into a comedy that celebrates every corner of the Type-Moon universe...
FUCKING BRILLIANT!!! *I don't know how the hell one can spoil a gag-based comedy series like this, but this series found a way to make people do that. Spoilers for Carnival Phantasm* (Given how this is a comedy that involves nothing but gags and no real overarching plot and the characters are merely ... Aug 26, 2011
After watching the frst two episodes, and being myself not a fan of Type Moon at all (I am not a gamer, and aside Kara no Kyoukai wich is a masterpiece, I generally dislike Type Moon ) I must say I enjoyed a lot Carnival Phantasm.
It is true that knowing a bit of the terribly confuse and disjointed mumble jumbo from Type Moon adds to the experience, but even if you do not know (or in my case, not appreciates) Type Moon's works, this anime is great to watch, really fun and with a really well done animation. Characters are fun to watch ... Sep 26, 2019
This is the type fan service we deadly need. With a universe as big as Typemoon, cross over is always meant to happen. But crafting such an excellent, genuinely funny and creative parody on so many levels, Carnival Phantasm is truly a work of genius.
While Tsukihime is not exactly a successful anime, its game is very well-known and highly considered as one of the best visual novel til date and clearly there's no franchise as big as how the Fate! expanded with so many spin-off and side story and games,... Clearly, Typemoon's fan, especially Fate! fans will very happy with this spin-off! Put your favorite ... Jul 1, 2015
Finally, after years of searching, I have found what I was looking for. Such perfection. If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, then I must have been blind before watching carnival phantasm. I have seen a couple of anime that are worthy of receiving a 10, and i have enjoyed so many shows, but carnival phantasm.... carnival phantasm is my favorite anime.
Seeing all those characters from these serious shows come together in this wonderful show was an amazing experience. I was sad before watching carnival phantasm, but now I am happy and on my way to completing my seventh master's degree. carnival phantasm ... Jan 8, 2012
I'm giving this a 9 in Story because it's random BUT I would like to give it a 10. In the sense of "Story" meaning having a plot and developing in depth I would give it a 10 (but it my mind I'd give it an 11+).
To start, I've only watched FSN and not Tsukihime so I feel like I would enjoy it a lot more if I knew about the characters from Tsukuhime seeing how seeing the characters from FSN really send chills down my spine (in a good way). After seeing Archer dancing in the OP I knew this show deserves a 10. This isn't ... Oct 6, 2011
before i watched this anime i had watched Fate/Stay Night. honestly they brought out the comedy-romance from this anime on Carnival Phantasm. they did not have any main plot, just a series of comedy events revolving around those two anime. they obviously came with the same voice actors or some funny voice actors. the characters, well, i honestly watched Shingetsutan Tsukihime because of this anime, it really showed off the characters as funny. overall, i enjoyed it very much and i look forward to the continuing of this season.

Note: I rate my overall score based on my enjoyment!
MAL's synopsis explains it: "Carnival Phantasm is an adaption of the manga "Take Moon" by Type-Moon's Eri Takenashi, to celebrate Type-Moon's 10th Anniversary. Carnival Phantasm shows parodies and new stories loosely based on Type-Moon's original works like Melty Blood, Fate/Stay Night, Tsukihime, and more." This amazing spin-off,of two really serious works makes it so you can enjoy the characters and laugh like crazy every single episode. ... May 27, 2015
Very light, humorous series
Sort of amusing to see generally serious characters in silly stories Jokes are entertaining and do not feel forced While there is no major plot the short stories are quite solid ( Final Destination episode - fantastic) Soundtrack is pleasant, especially the catchy opening Dec 1, 2014
This show is the most perfect piece of Fate fanservice a fan could ever ask for.
... And I am that fan, so this is an instant ten-atta-ten for me. That said, it is good comedy for anyone wanting to have something random, but it will shine the most for the people who are familiar to the works of Type-Moon May 22, 2013
I have to say, I liked Fate/Stay night anime more when I started watching this comedy anime which is very funny and fun to watch at the same time. The characters are likable and my favorite character of all is Archer because of his cool, smart and brave personality. He also said "Lancer's dead" which is the best part. Archer is definitely my most favorite character in this series. The story is very funny and the art and animation is well done.
By the way, Fate/Stay Night is an anime about heroes from the past who are named according to their classes. They fight for the ... Jun 20, 2022
For any Type-Moon fan, you must watch this! It is an OVA comedy series with all of the characters from Fate Stay/Night and Tsukihime. Even if you only know about one of the two series, it is enjoyable. Each episode has the characters in different situations and shenanigans. These include a race, shopping trip, working at a cafe, etc. The full series subbed can be found easily on Youtube. It is nice to see everyone from such dark shows in fun, light-hearted situations. It may be my favorite Type-Moon anime series, and I have watched it through several times. 10/10 recommend!
