Like Sailor Moon, Pretear is about a normal everyday girl that gets to do extraordiary things to save those she loves. She fights the forces of evil to save her world, and does it with style of course. Like Sailor Moon, Pretear also has it's share of corny romance, funny name calling, nifty costumes, odd enemies.

In many ways, Pretear is like Junichi Sato's prototype of Princess Tutu. It's easy to draw parallels between the character dynamics and story elements of each series. They are both inspired by fairy tales in a different way, and although they start out as comedies, you'll be left crying by the end.

You've got one girl trying to save the world with the help of seven handsome guys. Both are fantastic.

The heroines are destined to a legendary roles. The heroines can heal and purify energy-absorbing monsters from a different dimension. Both are also reverse harems.

Reverse harems about guys who are guarding the female in the group.

Well magic, transforming, and love both are the same but also different.

They are both really cute and they have both magic in it :P

pretears a bit more serious and for older ppl, whilst CCS is more cute, tho they are still gr8 anime series full of magic and action!

Both have very similar aspects but it is hard to tell why because the meaning of tokyo mew mew doesn't really come till the end of the anime. Both do have cute magical girls and or a girl in pretear fighting to save the world. They both also work hand in hand with saving the nature aspect of the world. This just goes to show since sailor moon and or all the other older magical girl animes. That this genre of anime will stand the test of time.

Both of these magical girl titles start out light-hearted, but have a darker twist to them as the story progresses. While Madoka has that twist much earlier in the show and Pretear has a slower start, both end up being darker than your average mahou shoujo anime. One of the key ideas in Madoka is also explored in Pretear, though in a slightly different way. This is a spoiler though, so you'll just have to watch them to find out. Overall, both are mahou shoujo series that are more than meets the eye, though Madoka has a much higher art and writing quality and Pretear  read more

They both start out with simple girls. They both are then surrounded by boys who help them through troubles or special powers with secrets.

They have same love intensity and at the end there is this Huge tree. They are both awesome. *wink*

Both are very similar as the girl is protected and they fight monsters and destroy at the core. a lot more similarities. . .

Both Elemental Gelade and Pretear refers to a human forms become an armor or a weapon.. In Elemental Gelade, the story is pretty straight forward when Coud van Giruet meets Ren, his life changes drastically as he tries to keep his promise to this girl.. Eden Raid, a group of people who have the ability to react with humans and form a pact or alliance in form of transforming herself into a special, powerful weapon. That is why these Eden Raid are so desired by many humans. And much of the anime revolves, of course, around these Eden Raid. Pretear is a series that takes a clever  read more

It is similar in the sense that the main character is being protected by several 'guardians' and that they have to stop an evil being.

both of the main characters, which are girls, found out they have powers. They both learn how to use and control it. And one of the characters in both story are not what they seem. People who watched Kamichama Karin would definetely enjoy Pretear

Similar plot. An energetic but awkward looking girl is asked to save a land in crisis all while being protected by some fairly good looking guys.

There are characters from Pretear that remind me of Pricilla. I enjoy characters like her. Pretear is about the chosen one to stop the big bad, while Gun X Sword is about people out for revenge. One is sci-fi, while the other is fantasy. I do have to say though, that Pretear did make me think about Gun X Sword. They have similar art styles.

Both anime involve a Female protagonist who is able to transform with another character, granting the MC some sort of super power.

Both series have the main girl character surrounded by a group of infatuated bishounen males. Amnesia is more like a reverse harem, but Pretear is the closest a magical girl series has gotten to this, imo. Watch them if you want to see cute bishis in every episode.

Both series contains independent and good looking guys who have a mysterious aura among them. Both series has the a main female protagonist who later develops feelings for the main male protagonist after various circumstances. Both series contain magic themes as well as comedy, drama, romance, and also some emotions.

it's a comedy/magical girl too andboth have a bit of romance.

Both involves a main character that uses a person to transform and gain a power. Himeno can transform with multiple guys who are magical knights. Whereas, the characters in Luck & Logic transform with one partner and the transforming partners are goddesses. Himeno falls for one of the knights and the main lead in Luck & Logic has a partner with feelings for him. The characters in both of these shows have to fight off bad forces that show up.

Both of these are stories about Snow White.

Umi Monogatari and Prétear are two magical girl anime directed by Junichi Sato. Both anime are about a human girl who learns of the existence of mystical beings, and soon becomes a magical girl in order to defeat an evil being of darkness. The story is a lot more serious than it seems on the surface, with some character drama and talks of darkness and loneliness throughout the plot.

Reverse harem anime with a common goal for the girl and the guys. Same vibe.

Prétear and Uta Kata are two magical girl anime from the 2000s (and are produced by the same studio) that feature a female protagonist being able to use magical powers based off of natural elements, with each magical transformation and outfit varying instead of just having one costume the whole show. Both anime also explore relationships and some dark themes.

Magic User's Club and Prétear are both magical girl anime about a group of both magical girl(s) and magical boys who use their magic to try and protect the world. As two anime directed by Junichi Sato, there is a good amount of character development, romance, and comedy (actually, both anime have somewhat similar comedy as they both use slapstick and even a little bit of pervy humor—though Magic User's Club has more of both types as Prétear focuses more on drama than on comedy).

-Both anime show a darker way to view the magical girl genre -Both shows deal with real world issues, Pretear dealt with the feeling of alienation and loneliness that might come from a parent's remarriage while Utena dealt with toxic masculinity. While Utena is much more conceptual, I have little doubt that if you liked either one of these shows, you'd enjoy the other

Both magical girl animes. They both have interesting themes of a darker storyline coming out of the lighthearted beginning and they're both action packed and emotionally gripping. If you liked Mai-HiME, check this one out!

Both main characters are very similar, they both believe in the goodness of the bad guy. they can transform using the help of their comrades, each of them with a different power therefore different outfits

'Pretear' and 'Angelique - Kagayaki no Ashita' share one major trait: They both contain the reversed harem genre. Besides that there is the girl fighting with her special powers to save the world. Sometimes at the cost of great sacrafices. Ofcourse you'll follow the main protagonist in her struggle to do the right thing. Within these set borders, both anime preach the value of friendship and love, although Angelique may seem somewhat more 'mature'. Although both anime have more to offer then 'all the handsome men like the girl with special powers.' I hope you'll enjoy them!

Bishonens, powers, drama, romance and both have endings.

Main character (Sorey for Tales of Zestiria the Cross and Himeno for Pretear) has some 'spirits' assisting them to save the world from extreme malevolence. To lend the powers, each seraphim (Tales of Zesteria the X) and/or knight [of element] (Pretear) has to be in spirit form and join with the main character (Himeno for Pretear and Sorey for Tales of Zestiria the Cross) to lend their powers. Both are good adventure animes, though Pretear is more of shoujo and has obvious romance element.
report Recommended by ichirako
Both stories have a true fairy tale like atmosphere that involves love triangles and tough situations. Pretear is a lighter, more carefree story, while Good Witch of the West is more dark and suductive , but stories cary the same essence. They are both thirteen episodes and are worth watching.

They are both magical girl animes. They also feature an awesom romance story and the charcters are very likable.

Despite the fact that Full Metal Panic is like a Gundam series while Pretear is like a Sailor Moon/Captain Planet hybrid, both shows utilize a similar style of comedy, have many similarly stereotyped characters, as well as both having entertaining action sequences in between.

You've got a commoner who's good at some form of martial arts, as well as a kind heart, who suddenly gets thrown right into a mansion with their socialite relative, and then lo and behold, their unique talents manage to let them progress through whatever challenges they face.

Well they are slightly simialr in that the main character in Pretear(Himeno) is like Odette thay have people helping them and they must fight a massive evil before it destroys everyone close to them. Heh sorry it was the best comparasion i could find!;(

Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne is like a mixture of Pretear and DN angel. Since this review is about Pretear and Jeanne I will focus on the similarities between these in particular. Both feature a strong female character with absent/or not really involved (pretear) parents. Both girls have unique magical powers and use them to try and save the world. Both are not understood by the "normal people around them. Both struggle with their mission and have those who help them. Both have dynamic relationships with male leads and are shoujo, romance, drama, magical girl. both have friends/allies who.. have... plot twists. both have magical beings helping  read more

Both series say about magical and real world which are heading for a fall. Similarities between Himeno and Hikaru are really easy to notice. There's a prohibited love, cruel enemy, darker side and of course sacrifice. Worth seeing if you like breathtaking moments :)

its almost like pretear, the main character Angeliqe is almost like the main character, (i think her name is Hikaru) there attitudes are completely different but the ideal is the same. There's only one girl who can save the world. They must purify these i don't know what to calll them so "dark beings". The must overcome challenges to make it to the main person behind the "dark beings".
