Like Sailor Moon, Pretear is about a normal everyday girl that gets to do extraordiary things to save those she loves. She fights the forces of evil to save her world, and does it with style of course. Like Sailor Moon, Pretear also has it's share of corny romance, funny name calling, nifty costumes, odd enemies.
Female characters who live a double life. Normal girls who attend school, and then later having the ability to transform into a new outfit and become hero's! They're just about always happy :]]
There's a bit more romance in Sailor Moon then there is in Pretear.
Both of these characters also have the help of their friends when they're fighting. Sailor moon has a group of female girls from school and Pretear has a group of Knights from another world.
Really the whole feel to it felt like some parts belong in Sailor Moon, especially the ending. The whole magical girl has to save the world from the big bad and everyone lending their help that happens a LOT in the Sailor Moon anime. Not only that, it does help that this is also a magical girl anime in a sense, with the main character wearing her color coded companions instead of fighting next to them.
Both series feature colorful animation, lovely music, and examplify the classic trimmings of the magical girl genre: flashy transformation sequences, pretty outfits, monsters-of-the-day, and an enchanting romance between the schoolgirl heroine and a gorgeous man.
Prétear and Sailor Moon are two magical girl anime with a very outgoing female protagonist learning she has the potential to use magical powers and save the world from evil. Both series have similar romance stories, a wide range of distinguishable characters, similar comedic scenes, and pretty much the same vibe. They both have the involvement of Junichi Sato, whose fondness for character development is very visible through both series.
In many ways, Pretear is like Junichi Sato's prototype of Princess Tutu. It's easy to draw parallels between the character dynamics and story elements of each series. They are both is inspired by fairy tales in a different way, and although they start out as comedies, you'll be left crying by the end.
Female vs Female! ~Fantasy/Romance
Main characters are the good side, undergoing transformations in order to save the day/world from the dark/evil female character. They're just about always happy, and they're willing to risk just about anything for the ones they care about.
Both evil female characters had some type of relationship/connection with the main male character.
Main characters are undergoing transformations in order to save the world from the evil female character. They're always happy, and they will risk anything for the ones they care about. Both evil female characters had some type of relationship with the main male character. Both are shoujo and magical girl anime. Both have a very emotional plot with love triangles.
Princess Tutu and Prétear are two gorgeous magical girl anime made by Hal Film Studios and with the involvement of Junichi Sato (he directed Tutu, and created as well as wrote the original manga for Prétear). The main characters in both shows are chosen to become a magical princess to stop potential disaster, but their new situations lead to them to constantly doubt themselves. There is also a sad backstory behind many of the main characters, and both of these shows take inspiration from fairy tales—Princess Tutu takes from many fairy tales, but mainly The Ugly Duckling and The Nutcracker, while Prétear is a magical girl take on Snow White. read more
Both Reverse Harems give the same feeling. A strong yet weak at times heroine is protected by a group of handsome guys with special powers. Both heroines are very similar to each other personality-wise and they both fall in love with one of their protectors, not to mention their love for food and their comical situations.
If you've watched one then you will most probably like the other one, though personally Fushigi Yuugi is much better in all aspects (ie: characters, plot and art wise).
both are about a girl who has multaple male companions that fight with or help her save the(or a) world.
in Fushigi Yuugi Miaka is taken into a book called The Universe of the Four Gods to become The Prestes Sakura and has to find her 7 Sakura Warriors.
In Pretear her own world is in danger and her companions find her.
both have a romance that builds between the main girl and one of the companions that makes it interesting.
(The only thing is Fushgi Yuugi has a lot more to it and is more complex)
Both series has one girl surrounded by guys as result of her special ability wanted by other people. The girl also has a destiny she must fulfill in both series as she learns about the world of the supernatural.
There are characters of contrasting personalities in both series but there's one main guy who is always there for the heroine.
There is also comedy, drama, and romance in both series.
I haven't seen Pretear in years but the first episode of Hiiro no Kakera immediatley brought up memories of this show. The whole 1 princess and her entourage of male guardians reminds me so much of pretear that I think I will watch it again soon. I did like Pretear alot better then this anime and I found that this one didn't have as great of an ending as pretear did but in all honesty if you liked one you will like the other :)
If you liked Pretear, then you'll for sure like Hiiro No Kakera !
Both anime have a lead who is destined to fulfill some legendary role.
Both anime also have the knights/guardians meant to protect the lead and help her accomplish her mission:!
In short, I enjoyed both of them, it was really great ;')
In both of those animes is one beautiful girl with magical powers and a reverse harem of bishonen - very good looking guys (wohoo XD). Full of monsters and supernatural powers... Also the style of animation is the same... :o)
Both have very similar aspects but it is hard to tell why because the meaning of tokyo mew mew doesn't really come till the end of the anime. Both do have cute magical girls and or a girl in pretear fighting to save the world. They both also work hand in hand with saving the nature aspect of the world. This just goes to show since sailor moon and or all the other older magical girl animes. That this genre of anime will stand the test of time.
Prétear and Cardcaptor Sakura are two magical girl anime that has a female protagonist meeting (an) otherworldly being(s) that can use magic and tell her that she has the potential to use it as well. Both are funny, have some romance, and even feature a range of magical outfits (instead of one costume, typical of the genre) for the main character to wear while she uses magic.
Both of these magical girl titles start out light-hearted, but have a darker twist to them as the story progresses. While Madoka has that twist much earlier in the show and Pretear has a slower start, both end up being darker than your average mahou shoujo anime. One of the key ideas in Madoka is also explored in Pretear, though in a slightly different way. This is a spoiler though, so you'll just have to watch them to find out. Overall, both are mahou shoujo series that are more than meets the eye, though Madoka has a much higher art and writing quality and Pretear is still very much a shoujo series. read more
Prétear and Puella Magi Madoka Magica are two magical girl anime featuring a pink-haired schoolgirl learning they have the potential to use magic in order to fight enemies made out of negative energy and can suck the energy out of people. Both series also take a turn that make them an unusually dark magical girl anime as well (especially in Madoka Magica's case).
Both focus on the main character's "destiny" as a protector (Pretear- Himeno as the Pretear; Blue Seed- Momiji as the Kushinada). Also, both shows' enemies are created by evil seeds that are put into objects and turn the objects into evil creatures. Both anime are very good and an excellent watch! :)
Each ha their own fantasy/magical element to them, and each has the central character as a kind-hearted girl. They have a healthy combination of laugh out loud humor and teary eyed drama. Both animes also bring a reverse-harem collection of character to support the central female.
Both Elemental Gelade and Pretear refers to a human forms become an armor or a weapon..
In Elemental Gelade, the story is pretty straight forward when Coud van Giruet meets Ren, his life changes drastically as he tries to keep his promise to this girl..
Eden Raid, a group of people who have the ability to react with humans and form a pact or alliance in form of transforming herself into a special, powerful weapon. That is why these Eden Raid are so desired by many humans. And much of the anime revolves, of course, around these Eden Raid.
Pretear is a series that takes a clever twist on many fairy tales...Himeno's life changes when she comes across the Leafe Knights (whose in human forms become a weapon), who tell her that she's to fulfill a destiny as the Pretear, one who eradicates the evil demons that come with the red snow sent by the Princess of Disaster (or the Princess of Calamity in the Japanese original). read more
Each series is an action show that doesn't take itself too seriously (as well as having a lot of nostalgia-bait) about having a man and woman unite to fight evil, save the world, and make some innuendo jokes.
Elemental Gelade seems more like a spoof of a typical shonen while Pretear has a Captain Planet feel to it
both of the main characters, which are girls, found out they have powers. They both learn how to use and control it. And one of the characters in both story are not what they seem. People who watched Kamichama Karin would definetely enjoy Pretear
Both magical girl animes. They both have interesting themes of a darker storyline coming out of the lighthearted beginning and they're both action packed and emotionally gripping. If you liked Mai-HiME, check this one out!
Both main characters are very similar, they both believe in the goodness of the bad guy.
they can transform using the help of their comrades, each of them with a different power therefore different outfits
-Both anime show a darker way to view the magical girl genre
-Both shows deal with real world issues, Pretear dealt with the feeling of alienation and loneliness that might come from a parent's remarriage while Utena dealt with toxic masculinity.
While Utena is much more conceptual, I have little doubt that if you liked either one of these shows, you'd enjoy the other
Prétear and Uta Kata are two magical girl anime from the 2000s (and are produced by the same studio) that feature a female protagonist being able to use magical powers based off of natural elements, with each magical transformation and outfit varying instead of just having one costume the whole show. Both anime also explore relationships and some dark themes.
Both series contains independent and good looking guys who have a mysterious aura among them.
Both series has the a main female protagonist who later develops feelings for the main male protagonist after various circumstances.
Both series contain magic themes as well as comedy, drama, romance, and also some emotions.
Both involves a main character that uses a person to transform and gain a power.
Himeno can transform with multiple guys who are magical knights. Whereas, the characters in Luck & Logic transform with one partner and the transforming partners are goddesses.
Himeno falls for one of the knights and the main lead in Luck & Logic has a partner with feelings for him.
The characters in both of these shows have to fight off bad forces that show up.
There are characters from Pretear that remind me of Pricilla. I enjoy characters like her. Pretear is about the chosen one to stop the big bad, while Gun X Sword is about people out for revenge. One is sci-fi, while the other is fantasy. I do have to say though, that Pretear did make me think about Gun X Sword. They have similar art styles.
Both series have the main girl character surrounded by a group of infatuated bishounen males. Amnesia is more like a reverse harem, but Pretear is the closest a magical girl series has gotten to this, imo. Watch them if you want to see cute bishis in every episode.
Main character (Sorey for Tales of Zestiria the Cross and Himeno for Pretear) has some 'spirits' assisting them to save the world from extreme malevolence. To lend the powers, each seraphim (Tales of Zesteria the X) and/or knight [of element] (Pretear) has to be in spirit form and join with the main character (Himeno for Pretear and Sorey for Tales of Zestiria the Cross) to lend their powers. Both are good adventure animes, though Pretear is more of shoujo and has obvious romance element.
Both stories have a true fairy tale like atmosphere that involves love triangles and tough situations. Pretear is a lighter, more carefree story, while Good Witch of the West is more dark and suductive , but stories cary the same essence. They are both thirteen episodes and are worth watching.
Well they are slightly simialr in that the main character in Pretear(Himeno) is like Odette thay have people helping them and they must fight a massive evil before it destroys everyone close to them. Heh sorry it was the best comparasion i could find!;(
'Pretear' and 'Angelique - Kagayaki no Ashita' share one major trait: They both contain the reversed harem genre. Besides that there is the girl fighting with her special powers to save the world. Sometimes at the cost of great sacrafices. Ofcourse you'll follow the main protagonist in her struggle to do the right thing. Within these set borders, both anime preach the value of friendship and love, although Angelique may seem somewhat more 'mature'. Although both anime have more to offer then 'all the handsome men like the girl with special powers.' I hope you'll enjoy them!
its almost like pretear, the main character Angeliqe is almost like the main character, (i think her name is Hikaru) there attitudes are completely different but the ideal is the same. There's only one girl who can save the world. They must purify these i don't know what to calll them so "dark beings". The must overcome challenges to make it to the main person behind the "dark beings".
Both series say about magical and real world which are heading for a fall. Similarities between Himeno and Hikaru are really easy to notice. There's a prohibited love, cruel enemy, darker side and of course sacrifice. Worth seeing if you like breathtaking moments :)
You've got a commoner who's good at some form of martial arts, as well as a kind heart, who suddenly gets thrown right into a mansion with their socialite relative, and then lo and behold, their unique talents manage to let them progress through whatever challenges they face.
Despite the fact that Full Metal Panic is like a Gundam series while Pretear is like a Sailor Moon/Captain Planet hybrid, both shows utilize a similar style of comedy, have many similarly stereotyped characters, as well as both having entertaining action sequences in between.
Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne is like a mixture of Pretear and DN angel. Since this review is about Pretear and Jeanne I will focus on the similarities between these in particular. Both feature a strong female character with absent/or not really involved (pretear) parents. Both girls have unique magical powers and use them to try and save the world. Both are not understood by the "normal people around them. Both struggle with their mission and have those who help them. Both have dynamic relationships with male leads and are shoujo, romance, drama, magical girl. both have friends/allies who.. have... plot twists. both have magical beings helping them. Both have goals of defeating lots of individual quests and also an overlying growth/plot. Both focus some on the main character's relationship with their family. Now to differences Pretear deals with a mixed family and syblings were Jeanne lives alone. Pretear has a number of guys (the 7 dwarfs, except they are handsome and not short unless they are young). Jeanne has one man guy who is antagonist. Jeanne steals stuff while Pretear attacks monsters as the way to save the world. read more
