During a pre-screening event for Kyochuu Rettou (The Island of Giant Insects) at the Crunchyroll Expo on Friday, producer Tatsuya Ishiguro announced a theatrical adaptation of Yasutaka Fujimi and REDICE's survival horror manga. The film is currently in the works, but crowdfunding will also take place in the future to aid production. The film is scheduled for a 2020 release.

Yurika Kubo (Love Live! School Idol Project, Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou) is joining the cast as Ai Inou. The rest of the cast will reprise their roles from the OVA in the upcoming film.

Fujimi launched Kyochuu Rettou on Akita Shoten's Champion Cross website in October 2014, before it was moved to the new Manga Cross website in July. It ended on March 28. The manga's sequel, titled Dai Kyochuu Rettou with art by Shuu Hirose, was launched on April 25.

The OVA episode, which was directed by Takeo Takahashi (Citrus) at Passione, was bundled with the manga's sixth and final compiled volume that shipped on June 20.

Oh man, I was kinda hoping that this was gonna end up being a TV series and not a movie...Oh well, I’ll just have to pass on this now >_<

This is going to be a movie? The CGI looks below your average show's cgi, which is still terrible btw. What kind of budget do they have?

Hope they sub the OVA soon so I can experience this potentially glorious trainwreck.

Where is the OVA? I wanted to check it out because it looks like a B horror thing but it still has yet to be uploaded to any websites?
