Two new OVA episodes of the Starmyu anime series have been announced as a sequel. The original music school anime from C-Station aired for 12 episodes in Fall 2015.

The new episodes will be released separately on July 27 and September 21. The OVAs will also include music videos of "☆☆Eien★Stage☆☆," "Caribbean Groove," and "SING A SONG! MUSICAL!" Also, as a tokuten, "Cow Catcher Scene" that was aired exclusively on Sun TV will be included. The main production staff of the TV series will return, and the voice cast members will reprise their roles. More detail will be announced on May 29.

Synopsis
A new year arrives as the school festival ends. The season has come as Kaou-kai members leave their jobs after doing their final duties. Each musical team prepares for the final big performance for the year, Graduation Ceremony, to show their gratitude. After Itsuki Ootori left Kaou-kai during the school festival, the ex-Team Ootori is not qualified to participate while they are still students of the music department. In the midst of these events, Yuuta Hoshitani and the others make a decision...

I still remember omg ouch our poor hearts. I'm happy yet still sad even after episode 12.
I think they are good. OVAs are sequel to main series this could increase volumes sales.
What if next announcement is S2

I think so too. Most would wait until all volumes are released before making OVAs. I know right? It says Next Announcement May 29th! I hope it's an announcement for season 2!

Do you think it's good news that they're giving the anime two OVAs even though only three volumes of the anime are out?

While not wrong, any time the official staff have put Starmyu in English, they've done it with a "y".

Fair, but given that it's short for "musical", it really should be "mu" by MAL's standards. Since MAL seems to follow their own standards over official Romanisation.

(Not trying to be mean here, it's just an inconsistency!)

Semantics aside, I loved the shit out of this so I'm fucking hyped.

ミュシカル , which is the Katakana for "Myushikaru" meaning "Musical", starts with "Myu", so it's a shortening for the original title in Japanese

I thought this said something like 'sequel season' at first glance... then I actually re-read it and saw it was only OVA's. Fucking disappointed, lol.

Can't complain too much though, I guess. I'll take what I can get.

Even if I'm like only half way through the actual anime, I adore it.

Sounds nice, looking forward to it.

Not one but two OVAs. Very nice. Liked the music of this show.

I want more yes if no S2 after OVAs I might die. Even after hardships I want to see what the future will be like.
I get emotional easily and with Starmyu I honestly shed tears many times but I also laughed. So precious to my heart.

Right the 3rd year students are graduating. I just can't without them all.
What happened to Otori and his boys last time I think OVAs will be too much for my heart.

Otori-senpai and Hiiragi-senpai...I don't want them to go either. ;_; But the show must go on, right?

I'm happy there's more Starmyu yet synopsis sounds it's finally the real goodbye.

It definitely feels like goodbye for the Kao Kai but what about our first years? ;_; I need more Nayuki and Kuga in my life.

@tsubasalover

No problem. But there's still a misunderstanding in the synopsis you fixed. They weren't disqualified from the graduation ceremony due to the school festival incident. It is because the graduation ceremony is for the Kaou-kai members and Otori is not part of Kaou-kai anymore so they simply aren't supposed to perform there since they're not a Star Team of a Kaou-kai member.

@komasan
Thank you, I've fixed the synopsis a bit to apply to yours. I wasn't sure on few parts, and while I do know that it's Ex-Team Ootori, it was fixed by another news mods (and thought disqualified = "Ex").

I submitted this news as well but oh well.

That synopsis is totally wrong. The grad ceremony isn't a final stage and Team Otori did not disband.

The actual synopsis:

Ayanagi Academy enters a new year after the end of the Ayanagi Festival. On the day that the current Kaou-kai will step down after completing their final duties, the respective Star Teams under the Kaou-kai members will perform at their graduation ceremony to express their gratefulness. This, to the Star Team students, is their final big performance. While Hoshitani and the others have been accepted into the Musical Department, due to Otori Itsuki quitting Kaou-kai, the "Ex-Team Otori" does not qualify to perform at this graduation ceremony. What will Hoshitani and the others do?

---

Anyway, yay! It's great news. But it's now dubious if they'll make a second season. Depends on how the OVA works out I guess.
