TV Anime of Comedy Manga 'Ishida to Asakura' Announced

According to Young King magazine, Masao's comedy manga "Ishida to Asakura" was announced to get a TV anime adaptation. It will be aired from January 2013.

It's a nonsense comedy about two high school boys, Ishida and Asakura.

A slice of life with comedy elements isn't the same as a pure comedy show. Theres plenty of those, there just aren't many shows that focus on the comedy as the main selling point.

Nichijou bombing should tell you why they don't make many pure comedies. It had everything you needed for a successful show: KyoAni, cute girls, great production values, tons of marketing. Yet it bombed since they forgot the most important thing: Otaku generally don't buy comedies.

No, they thought "random stuff not making sense and being weird = funny". And that's not true. Nichijou was often times just weird, but not funny. You could also say it was VERY hit and miss. That's why it failed. There are some great comedies out there, but it's not easy to get to a level where many people like it. Doesn't hinder the good ones to become successful enough though. (Something like Working, Baka Test, Lucky Star, Yuru Yuri, School Rumble, Gintama, Hayate, Squid Girl and so on) Even those aren't for everyone of course, but that's normal.

And what's this with there isn't much comedy? What's with the new Hayate season, Seitokai no Ichizon, Hidamari Sketch.. those should focus more than enough on Comedy and/or Parody. And that's just this season.
I really don't think there isn't enough comedy. Would be sad otherwise because that's one of the few things which Anime tend to do right. Drama tends to be way too exaggerated. (Although there are enough who like that melodrama which you can also find in any soap opera, just not in 2d of course) Good action needs a good budget and someone who can use it well. Comedy of course also depends, but it seems to be harder to screw up.
