Terrible ending. Not only did Maria not die, but NONE of the four (Maria/Canaan/Alphard/Yun Yun) died. Not to mention that they didn't explain anything why Alphard killed Siam. That's kind of important isn't it? Well, they totally failed on that part.

The ending was awful. The show "died" after Santana died.

7/10 only for the awesomeness of Santana/Hakko

Agreed, I thought that they would explain that part @ least. And that whole "You're heart is dying" "Quit dying" reminded me of that horrible Soul Eater ending.

Overall the fighting was great but the story was lacking. The ending could have been much better but glad that Alphard didn't die and surprised to see Cummings the monk. And Maria's ending monologue proved how annoying of a character she was to me.

Overall, 7/10

So, Canaan ended.

I have to say that I enjoyed the series. The fighting was awesome, I liked the characters (yes, even Maria).

But still, it felt a little bit ... uncompleted? I mean, what about Siam and him getting killed? Whats now with Alphard? And what about the ending - will they meet again? And some other stuff I dont remember...

It was enjoyable, so 8/10
Will there be a second series? Or is it really over?

I think they left it open like that for a possibility of another season. There could be and could not, all depends on how well the show did in Japan. Since the 428 game got a perfect score, there could be enough fanism for Canaan to get a second season in the works. So that gives a little hope.

I'm honestly all for another round of it as long as it's a bit improved on.

I feel the same. Since Alphard never dies... But they might conclude everything in the movies as well. Who knows?

But I hope Maria and Canaan have a better endings. After all that they have been through, they don't deserve to be separated. And if they value the friendships so much they should do something to keep in touch! T__T

Decent 'final' episode.

It was a very enjoyable series with great animation quality. Especially the fights were always pure eye candy. Can't wait for the blu-rays. 9/10

I was ... pretty dissapointed .. although my version of the ending envisioned Maria dying and Alphard winning, that obviously wasn't gonna happen .. I like Cummings, but thought it was better for him to die with his 'love' .. Alphard kinda sucked losing like that and wearing the WTF face, but at least she lived .. they also didn't show the fight before Canaan was already mashing Alphard's face in .. I gave it a semi-weak 8, cuz Taxi driver made an appearance + opening song was @ end @ one-armed Alphard is kinda cool .. the first ~2/3-rds of the series has a very strong 9 from me though

Well that was a fairly anti-climatic and unimpressive ending ... well I guess I should say that in regards to the first half of the episode; thought the second half/denouement was handled decently. So whatever, a 50/50 break for me on the finale.

Figure I'll be giving it a 6.

Wait a min,so Alphard some how survived? mmmmm.......oh well,it was overall a good ending, even if the fight scene near the beganning between CANAAN and Alphard was pretty short and left into some confussion

some issues could have been worked out since this being a 13 episode anime and it would be unfair for me to compare this to phantom requiem of the phantom

overall I give CANAAN a 9 out of 10.

Lawl, epic garbage, although I would have loved a ending where the Taxi Driver-San explode the shit out of that train with a high tension jump.

Piece of shit, I'll give it a 6/10 due to Taxi Driver-Sama.

The anime was fine until Hakko and her lover (what's his name again?) died -_-
I really loved this pairing.

And yeah, there are so many things that were not explained ~_~
Great potential, but the producers failed.

At least the drawings were damn kickass.

I had mixed feelings regarding the ending. I was expecting a typical Bad End in Type-MOON fashion, not a cliff.

The biggest unanswered question I have, that may come around in the assumed second season, is the second Canaan that was in the Village That Disappeared. Alphard lit whatever icy substance that was on fire, thus freeing the Canaan clone...thing... from its captivity within. Will this second Canaan be an antagonist in the second season (all this assuming there will be one) that Alphard and Canaan will need to team up against?

5/5 ending. If it ended completely with that opening, it was beautiful. If it ended with a second season in mind, we get another 13 or so episodes of Canaan in the future.

After watching this I felt like saying the show was great, the characters are memorable etc. but I couldn't. It simply didn't "click". Too many unexplained things for my taste.

The overall atmosphere was something I liked about this anime. It's different, original and guessing what's gonna happen next was never easy. Last episode had that subtle, reminiscent, "feel-good" note therefore I gave it a 4/5, and rated the anime 7/10. Still, I admit I just did not get the whole thing. If there are people who did, lucky them - me, perhaps only parts of it, mainly the characters' feelings. Motives, the color associations, Canaan-Despair relation...not so much.

This ending was somewhere between bad and mediocre. Alphard ended up only wanting to kill Canaan out of jealousy, shot herself in the arm, fell a few hundred feet into the ocean and managed to live. Maria lives also, and she and Canaan decide they can't remain beside one another. I'm sorry, but if they were going to have an ending like this, much of the last four or so episodes were totally unnecessary. Alphard is alive, so how is Yun Yun maintaining herself? The whole thing with the US, and virtually every other side plot was left totally unchecked.

If it weren't for the good direction (especially the shot of Canaan sitting on the train holding Alphard's arm), I would give it a 5. Maybe later it will drop to a five since the middle of the show wasn't done so spectacularly.

I'm impressed by the number of clichés in this ending... It was okay though, but yeah, as mentioned by someone, we still don't know why Alphard killed Siam. I was happy to see the Taxi Driver, even if it wasn't one of his sugoi appearences...

My favourite scene is when the gun fell from the train into the hand of Alphard : great turn of events.

Well it was going to be a 7 until I saw this episode... The anime this season seems to have a problem with killing the bad guys, they all end up free as if nothing happened..
Canaan killed like a million soldiers but noooo it would be wrong to kill alphard.
I can't believe there is people rating it with 9, considering 10 is supposed to be a masterpiece how can this be a 9??

6/10

Cause Alphard is like miserable and Canaan wants to save her?(I don't know.I mean it happens alot in animes...)
And I rated 9 for this also due to the character Canaan.(Character design similar to Shiki from Knk thats why=)

After the ED Canaan hair style looks was cute...Reminds me of Alphard...

Fuck yeah, monk Cummings and Taxi driver. Although, I was waiting for him to do some bridge-jumping to the airport, but oh well. He's awesome enough to bump up my score. It'd be interesting (and helpful, since they didn't explain some things, like Alphard killing Siam) if they make a sequel, but I'm fine without it.

I'll give it a solid 8/10.

I would be ok if they continue the anime and explain it there. I dont want to see whole season that is a prequel of CANAAN anime. Couse we already know what will happen and how. Maybe they explain it in the movie, i dont want to see these 3 movies to be copy/paste of the series but it would be great if they add like 20-30 minutes of new material in each movie.

The ending was good even if most of the issues raised in the script weren't really dealt with. It was more of an emotional/character-oriented ending than a plot resolution, but it was still satisfying for me.

And thus ends "Chugoku Monogatari" (I don't know what's up with Masahiro Ando, is he obsessed with China or what? ;))! But what really blew me away from first to last episode was undoubtedly the fantastic direction and the incredible consistency of the art and animation, especially during fights and other fast scenes. Yes, the script was not the best, yes the characters weren't as developped as they could have been, but just for its originality, its direction and solid production values, I rate this show 9/10.

It's been a long time since I haven't seen a so cheesy ending.

This show was pretty awesome for its action, greatly animated gunfights, and some funny, though cliche, jokes. Other than that, I'd say pacing, plot holes, and a general lack of coherency are its weakness. So I'm giving this a 6/10 for its superior animation and overall it was quite enjoyable if you don't think too much. More than that would be overrating it.

Lol @ Minoru. "She had such a nice ass!"

So Cummings is a monk now...wow.

And I had a feeling Alphard was going to be alive. Though that doesn't leave it open for a second season, which I'm happy about. It should end like this..kind of like how Ga Rei Zero ended.

Glad I never took this show seriously or else I would have been disappointed a long time ago. These last episodes have been pretty damn good compared to the rest of the series, especially this final one. Seeing the taxi driver again, Cummings alive as a monk, Yun Yun doing odd jobs as usual, and Alphard still out on the prowl gave me some good closure. The confrontation on the train was nicely done too. I'm still confused as all hell about the whole backstory with Canaan/Alphard and the crazy experiments and stuff, but I'll just take it all with a grain of salt. It was an overall decent series for something that wasn't as good as it could have been. More of a "just-for-fun" anime than anything else. I liked it. 8/10

I came into this series expecting too much of it. The action style is one of my favourites, and it had some decent sequences, but the show failed to connect me to its themes and characters. In essence, I didn't feel it. Perhaps the themes just weren't to my taste; though as the prideful person I am, I would say that I'm well acquainted with the themes of 'trying to be amazing' and, as depravities in my past have exposed, the theme of 'finding your light/inspiration'.

To sum it up, this series sort of ended just like Rideback for me, which is a shame; Both were good quality series but seemed to be geared towards an artistic demographic with which I cannot connect.
