THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Welp, the show is back although art style retains the same way it was done like the previous season. The new OP song is rather catchy though.

Pretty tense episode.
Guts still retains his vengeance against Griffith and we get to see an intense duel between him and Nosferatu Zodd. Not bad for a returning episode.

Well if you can get over the CG, it still isn't half bad and it was actually a nice restart.

The music is good and I'm glad that they're at least adapting the manga decently.

The action was pretty tense and really cool, loved the part where Guts kicked the sword into Zodd's abdomen.

Griffith gonna wreck these Kushan's now.
Also troll mode Puck best puck. xD

After last season, I went into this expecting it to be some more trash, but actually ended up pleasantly surprised. It still has the iffy CG, but the wonky camera spins are toned down a little during actual combat. Guts vs. Zodd was pulled off fairly well, it managed to actually be a decently paced and exciting fight. My hopes that Berserk (2017) will be better are starting to rise, hopefully it stays this way for the rest of the season.

Well, it was an interesting start to the new season and a good continuation from where the previous one left off, and I'm already intrigued by how things are going to play out, especially with Griffith firmly back in the picture now.

Shitting on the first season drained all my energy, so I'll just sit back and enjoy the story while I continue to try to get used to this abysmal CGI, as well as laughing my ass off at the sound effects of the sword clashing.

That jazzy BGM at 5 minutes in was sooooo bad, what were they thinking?! It sounded like some corny jazz bar music.

What's hilarious is if they actually did the anime with the same style as the OP it would actually be decent. Not amazing, but at least not the pile of shit they've been putting out.

The OP was good but it felt like it belonged on a shonen like Naruto or One Piece, I loved the OP for the 2016 series because it sounded like a ballad and I was excited for this one because they got the same band back but ah well.

Anyway this was more of the same, Berserk 2016 continued with all the same problems still there, the strong source material continues to just barely hold it all together.

The CGI isn't great, we all know that. But the story, pacing and even the fight between Guts and Zodd were brilliant, in my opinion.

Super awesome to see Griffith and Guts talking to each other after such a LONG time.

Not a surprise but the CGI is still awful and seemingly worse. Right where Zodd makes his appearance and they pan the camera up and away to Griffith, it felt like I lost a lot of frame rate but for only that one instance.

I didn't like that fight at all just because of the CGI, the Shaky Cam and awful sound effects. (CLANG CLANG CLANG) At this point, I'm pretty much here for the amazing story and I have completely given up on the animation. That's a shame too since the manga has one of the best, if not the best, artwork I've seen in manga.

I like the opening song and video a lot. Seeing Guts in that Berserker armor in the opening made me lose my pants. Also seeing Zodd, Guts, Casca and Griffith together in one place can be contributed to me losing said pants...Seriously, I honestly have no idea when I took my pants off and I'm getting a little worried.

CGI is better, still a bit weird, but better, any sound involved with fighting is still comically bad, and the directing is still god fucking awful. Still better than 2016 tho

Decided to give this one a watch to see if things improved from last season... oh boy have they not. The really strange camera movement, ugly characters and visuals and awful sound effects/music are all still present. I'm trying hard to look past the CG, but I just can't. Dropped.

I suppose the one thing this episode gave me was more CLANG sounds to use in future videos. Yay?

As an old and big time fan of the manga, I'm still pissed beyond belief that they gave the adaption of this manga to mediocre and inexperienced studio. It deserves better.

Having said that, the CGI and animation seem a biiiit better than last season. Which is not saying much.

Hey does anyone know if this is the second season of Berserk or is a new re-vamped Berserk?

I stopped after episode 7ish in season one because I couldn't bare the CGI anymore. I might give this a go again if it's a different plot.

The plot just continues from were it left off in the 2016 Berserk. But if you couldnt bare the crappy CG in the first one then you wont like this one either, its basically the same shit.

Thought the 2D animation was amazing, the 3D animation wasn't too shabby either. It isn't as terrible as people say it is, that's for sure. They'll see one smeared scene and over-analyze the shit out of it.

Overall, great episode and I'm happy that it is back.

Here we go again ladies and gents, let's see if this season is going to be as piss poor as the last (that's where the smart money is bet)!

I will say that the music continues to be the high point of the show in this episode and that the direction of the Zodd fight is a marked improvement from most of the fights last season, but that both are nearly undermined by the comical [CLANG!] barrage that came from Guts and Zodd exchanging blows and the massively dropped frame rate in multiple scenes. Didn't like the new opening much either, in terms of song or animation.

The one consistently good portion of this episode was how Griffith was portrayed. It's pretty obvious that the animators paid extra attention to making him appear as ethereal and eerie as possible and thankfully they succeeded. Hopefully this will remain a constant and also be passed onto other characters as well.

Overall a mixed bag of an episode, 3/5.

Mixed feelings as always. So nice to have a scene like the Hill of Swords finally animated, but...man, just imagine if they had a bigger budget and better animation. It is what it is I guess...

I really really hate Shiro Sagisu's music for Berserk. He's a good composer, sure, but it doesn't work with Berserk.

Such a great improvement since the 2016 "reboot".
Still doesn't look 'great' but its following the Manga better so far and establishing shots are on point.

Yeah it's a sequel to the anime adaptations that only covered the Golden Age Arc. Granted the Golden Age Arc wasn't where Berserk started, it was a flashback arc that followed the Black Swordsman Arc.

This first episode was very intese, because we could watch Guts and Griffith, face to face, although in the middle was Zodd helping the ex hack lider!!!

Nice battle, although the most brutal, and bloody was the scenes when takes the castle, but only 2 minutes.

It's finally back! I sure have been waiting for this one.

CGI is back as well... but oh well I had enough of complaining and reading complains about CGI so I long since... don't care any more, it's berserk after all. I still can't get over the sounds effects of sword clashing but enough about that as well. This is already second season that came out just few months after S1, no one expected any improvements.

In any case it's back and I sure loved it. Other than King's avatar which is basically a dream coming true for that to be turned into anime, I sure looked forward to Berserk coming back the most. In comparison to the most hyped anime of this season which would be SNK and BNHA, even if those animes are made greatly and have little to no flaws, in the end it's the original story that matters the most.

Yeah, the animation is still horrendous, but if you look past that, almost everything else was done well. My biggest complaints with the previous season was animation quality and the lack of proper flow between scenes. This season seems to fix the flowing issue (for now).
