Obviously I loved the feudal Japan background. The fights are not stretched forever, usually 1 or 2 episodes max. These are necessary to advance the story. The plot is fairly predictable and shallow: faction conspiracies, good vs evil, resolving matters by fighting your way through, brotherhood, etc.
The first episode is actually one of my favorite and I do believe the story should have followed a bit more its spirit. For instance, Saizou's skills and unwillingful attitude were worthwhile and promising but the feeling fades away as the story goes on and he gradually becomes next to useless. Basically, he's super strong against his comrades before they join in the Braves and also against the general cannon fodder type ninjas but that's another story with the enemy main characters. It's a pain when you see a main character show off so much for lesser results.
I also understand that they needed to make time to introduce the other characters since the story goal was to revolve around 10 braves fighting together. They should have appeared way faster. For example, Jinpachi Nezu appears at episode 8 or 9 I believe.. wait! what? But there is only 4 episodes left!
Story: 6 - Fair : it's pretty much what you expect from a ninja combat based anime. As described above, nothing more or less. The ending comes way too abruptly in my opinion. Its has if they wanted to get it done and go onto the next project.
Art: 8 - Very Good: I liked the style, nothing epic. Enough said.
Sound: 7 - Good: I enjoyed the opening, mostly skipped the ending. The overall BGM during specific events and encounters were adequate and matched the anime theme.
Characters: 5 - Mediocre: I was expecting more, sadly didn't get it. The character development is typical and very basic. You will find some flashbacks about Saizou, Isanami, Anastasia, Miyoshiseikei to add extra understanding of the storyline.
Enjoyment: 7 - Good: Even if the story and characters weren't flawless, I had a good time watching it.
Overall: 7 - Good: It's definitely an anime to watch if you like combat-oriented storylines and a nice addition to the ninja theme. It's nothing epic but definitely entertaining. I would definitely watch it again if I eventually get bored and don't have anything better to do.
Extra comments:
I would have enjoyed seeing a serie of 25-26 episodes out of it. Simply to extend the story and introduce deeper content, elaborate on characters, get Saizou to finally kick those bad guys' ass properly, see Isanami get abusively destructive with her power and also to get a decent fight done between Kamanosuke the psychotic warmonger and Saizou. It would have contributed greatly to a longer and better ending. read more

the first half of the show was very sweet, enjoyable and promising. it was surprisingly romantic and i very much enjoyed the chemistry between the two leads. in the show's second half more and more supporting characters got crowded in, the main couple's focus became fuzzy and the story started to drift around and lose it's purpose and became less interesting. looking back on the show as a whole there was a story they wanted to convey and i can understand it and its emotional core but it's too bad the later episodes weren't written as good as the foremost. i love the main couple's art and design, animation started out good bet went downhill later. read more

Both of these Anime contain a female lead who is sought out by both the bad guys and good guys. They both have very mild personalities and both anime have bishonen.
Samurai bishies with powers. Many fights. Main heroine is weak and naive although she possesses a unique power.
Samurais, bishonens, powers, similar era, drama and romance.
1- Beautiful, attractive, powerful, amazing and sexy male character.
2- The history is developed in an especial era of Japan.
3- Both main characters protect a woman.
4- Fights, magical powers, swords, etc, etc.
5- Watch it. Its amazing.
4- I recommend it to every fangirl.
they both have funny bishounen characters and historical set up. also swordsplay and magical powers are smilar too
This is my first rec so bear with me.
Both of these have a reverse harem-like feeling where there is a female lead with many male characters surrounding her. In both stories, the main character is protected by a group of samurais or ninjas. They both are set in the past and have mystical or supernatural influences.
Many of the characters are also similar in looks, personality, or purpose.
Saizo and Hijikata are alike in looks and personality. They are both quiet and stern and give off an indifferent or aggressive vibe towards the female lead but turn out to be quite caring and kind.
Sanada and Kondou are similar in looks, personality, and purpose. They are both the "leaders" of the group of warriors and brought them all together. They are also both silly, carefree characters who both enjoy chasing after women. They are also both understanding and gentle towards the female lead.
Rokuro and Saito are also similar in all three traits. They are quiet and mysterious and tend to be the shadow and right hand man of the leader of the group. They both show traits of loyalty and quiet determination to accomplish the goals and protect their leader.
Although they are different in some ways, Kamanoske also reminded me of Okita with his looks and personality. While he was a bit more eccentric than Okita, he displayed Okita's indifference/preference towards violence and killing. They were also both a bit hostile towards the female lead when first meeting her.
Both shows are among my favorites and I thought of Hakuouki numerous times while watching brave 10. However ....SPOILER ALERT.... while I enjoyed Hakuouki more for it's intensity, I liked brave 10 more because it had a happier ending.

Hotblooded crazy samurai and ninja being all hotblooded and crazy in humorous over the top fashion. You expected something serious and vaguely realistically historical? Not here, baby.
(Sengoku Basara does hold the distinction of actually being enjoyable however)
Similar setting, same animation.
Same era
Same historical figures
Both have a samurai theme
Both take place in the Sengoku era, and have over the top fight scenes. They both include characters from actual history, and the story revolves around the conflict between these characters.
Both have action in the same era. Both have mostly the same characters.
the supernatural, some part of the story, characters
