No Country for Old Men is actually a film that I quite enjoy! I think that's a good example to use, in terms of framing what Inuyashiki was *attempting* to do, I just feel as though they very widely missed the mark. Anton Chigurh, Hiro is not.

I actually did understand the theme from the start, and I thought it was an interesting dichotomy to explore between the two presumptive leads! More than anything I was disappointed by the way they shifted from the nuanced way of exploring it in the beginning, to what wound up becoming acts of random violence that were gruesome just for the sake of being gruesome.

I just watched the BBC Documentary: No Sex Please, We're Japanese. I'm glad you recommended it to me because it made me even more aware to the issues facing Japan.
