Synopsis

During their stay in the capital of Milishion, the adventurers of Dead End decide to split up for a day to run their errands. While Rudeus Greyrat has his plans derailed by a troublesome scene, the party's swordswoman, Eris Boreas Greyrat, finds herself with nothing to do. Deciding to embark on an adventure to slay goblins, Eris crosses paths with a cocky but talented mage named Cliff Grimoire. Though Eris refuses his company, Cliff stubbornly ignores her wishes and dares her to explore the perilous forest surrounding the city. Accepting his challenge, Eris ventures into the forest with the mage, where the two encounter something far more repulsive than mere goblins.

Mushoku Tensei for the most part stands on well paced storytelling matched by great animation and characters to boot. This special is simply a side story giving context to the actions of Eris in the background of an episode, primarily to introduce a few characters.

On its own it is a pretty solid idea and shortly places said characters in the anime’s universe prior to their relevancy. The only problem with this is that it seems that these characters basically do nothing other than being named and the only one with ample screen time comes off as irritating.

This was really cool. Getting to see Eris in a different light was great, and it really added to her development. The animation in this was stunning, with incredibly animated fight scenes. This also didn't go near any of the weird pervy stuff that's littered throughout the show. I didn't care for the story itself, but it may come in later on in the show. The new characters introduced were pretty cliché, but they do seem to serve their purpose in the story. this special is so much of a spit in the face of an original story as it gets. The art style is crude, lines are so rough and thic that you cant take your eyes out of it, animation is a slideshow, not smooth but like 15 fps in a videogame slow, it hurts when you watch. Story is cheap, new characters are lazy and predictable. also story overal is generic and has nothing to offer. i waited for so long for this episode and my expectations were broken and my day is ruined. i hope second season wont be as disapointing as "this"...
