Hey Everybody, very serious message from le Creator of RACE
Please read carefully
As I'm sure some of you have noticed, RACE hasn't been very active lately
Part of that is my fault, I haven't been able to give it my full attention while being busy with moving and work in real life
However I think a big part of it is the fact that so few members visit the club
I mean we have nearly 2000 members.... maybe 20 active? total?
For a long time i was thinking about shutting down race and starting a new club with some new ideas I have
taking all the things i learned from RACE and moving on
MAL has changed since I first joined, most of my original friends are super busy and rarely around
But RACE and mal are still important to me so I have a different plan
A few people helped me come up with the idea so this is what's going to happen.
We're purging RACE.
You won't be able to access it. We're going to close it for a few days
Everyone in the members list will be removed
All the threads deleted (almost)
Everything will be started over. We will start over with a smaller club and staff
I have a lot of cool ideas for what is going to happen.
For those of you that are wondering about the sports festival
It wasn't as active as we'd hoped so we closed it.
The sports fest was my way of seeing if race can still be active and it failed
So now we're purging.
When we open back up there will be a new and improved Sports Festival!
It will be the Grand Re-Opening of RACE
please come back if you still love race like i do and want to be active
This isnt meant to punish the people that are around, or even the ones that arent
This is my decision
I need a reason to get excited and motivated again and I think this is the best thing for RACE We will be Re-Opening on August 1st
Thanks for everything you guys!
See you in a few days!
Oh, I haven't met anyone who preferred the Rebuild movies but geez, I don't see how anyone could!
Mm yeah, I hated it at first but I guess it grew on me later. I still think it's much worse compared to the first two, but I just had to try to view it separately from the original series/EoE because in comparison it definitely falls short, so you just can't even try to put them in the same category. It has a completely different atmosphere to it, as well.
I guess just laziness - I didn't really expect anyone to check out my list or care for my ratings anyway. Also I often change my mind after some time, so my rating may be completely different later on. Maybe I'll start giving ratings, though.
I think the same. While Shinji is not among my favorite characters, and at times yes I found him somewhat of a crybaby - the truth is, ANY 14 year old boy put in that situation would act the same way. It's more realistic for him to have those second guesses and struggles rather than to just go along with it naturally. I know I would be nervous and scared about it, too! So for that I think he is really well-written.
I agree with your interpretation, and I find her backstory interesting however the reason she is my favorite is because of her personality. Lots of people say Rei is emotionless - of course she is not really, you see scenes with her laughing with Gendo, ones where she's angry. She has a lot of emotions and people who say that obviously didn't pay much attention to the show. But while she has emotions, she has trouble expressing them at times. So at some points she may /appear/ emotionless, or like her emotions are limited because of that. I guess that's why I like her. While not to such an exaggerated degree, I am the same way, so I identify with her. Feeling some way and not knowing why or how to express it. Or feeling like your emotions are limited in that you can only experience them to a certain degree - that's how I feel. I think that's how she might have felt also, but that's just my interpretation of her.
I like EoE as much as I liked the series. Yeah it had a lot of action, but I think that's too be expected, most shows really pick up the pace towards the ending. If the whole show was like that I would have lost interest, but for the movie it was fine. I don't dislike sad endings. In fact, sometimes I prefer them if it's more realistic. Happy endings which seem fake and like there's no way that would have actually happened bother me. I didn't really like the series ending - I can enjoy that type of thing, but it just felt like something was missing. Like, "was that really it?". But I guess I would have felt like something was missing if it was just the movie also, so I think together it's just fine. I see where you're coming from, though.
Sorry I took so long to get back to you! Hope you're having a nice week so far.
Hello. Yes, it's always nice meeting someone else who likes it, I really do love that series.
While I enjoyed the Rebuild movies, I think that the series and EoE was 100x better. It had more to it and a lot of rewatch value whereas the Rebuild movies seem to be more like the "lite" version of NGE, more about the action. I don't know to feel about 3.0, it was interesting but seemed too different and didn't have the same feeling as the rest of the show, but nonetheless I still liked it and I look forward to seeing how everything is wrapped up in the final movie. NGE & EoE is my favorite anime, even if the reboot doesn't match up to it I can't help but like it anyways because of that bias. But the third movie is the weak link in the entire franchise and if not for that bias I would absolutely hate it. Actually, I did hate it at first, but I guess after some time it grew on me. I more or less agree with your ratings on it - though I don't typically bother to rate most anime I watch.
Nice to meet you, by the way. So who is your favorite NGE character?
Only Yesterday with some other few anime has a different scoring system with me which will be Sentimentality/10 . I have found a lot of people care about the character being relatable and the story being interesting but for specific works , I get different feelings about it which I become sentimental about it. It is when the work invokes a positive feeling about life and nature or I feel that I had those feelings in life before not being a melodramatic that begs its viewer to feel sad. Only Yesterday = nostalgia. I remembered the first time I eat Avocado . when drinking water and spitting it on others in school become a habit and etc. Only Yesterday is simple and isn’t something which I will call it a masterpiece or recommend it to others often but I just can’t find a way to dislike it myself.
