Wow, a fellow Great Passage fan! I've never met anyone on MAL who has that in their favorites, even though it's a very unique and heartwarming show. I loved Mitsuya and Kaguya as a couple. Mitsuya was also an interesting character of the kind that we don't see much of in anime.

I am not up to date with Mix because anime coming and I want to experience the rest thru it. Its approach seems to be closer to Adachi's lighter story type which comes with less emotional factors, which is seen in works such as Rough and Katsu. Touch is much closer to Cross Game, but it comes with its pacing issues and massive build up phase which might be a killer. However, the last 30 episodes are retardedly emotional with huge payout. Watching it before Mix isn't necessity but I would say that's a mountain you might want to conquer before Mix.

edit: on the other hand, the anime adaptations have somewhat made the drama always more meaningful, which might benefit Mix as well
