I get what you mean about not wanting to seem overly critical and that's totally cool. That's how I did things before as well. At some point I guess I just valued distinguishing titles from each other more, acknowledging that I still enjoy the stuff I've rated a 5 or 6 haha.
(Sorry for the late response btw, first week at uni has been fairly packed/eventful)
Since the series has anime adaptations, do you think it is definitely preferable to read the manga first as well? Or are there any cases where you would suggest just watching the anime (or vice versa)?
I agree, we do seem to have a lot of anime/manga in common and have similar tastes! I do indeed rate stuff lower than is the norm on MAL, as I prefer to use my own rating system that allows me to give a wider range of scores than the default.
