K-ON!! OP and ED Take Top 2 of Weekly CD Ranking

According to Oricon, the theme songs of K-ON!! occupied the top 2 of the weekly single CD ranking for April 26th - May 2nd. The OP "GO! GO! MANIAC" and the ED "Listen!!" have won the top and the second, respectively. It's for the first time in Oricon's 42-year-history that a single CD of anime character wins the top in the weekly ranking. Hokago Tea Time has become the third female singer(s) who took the top 2 of the weekly single CD ranking. The previous record was made 26 years ago.

The album CD of the first series "Hokago Tea Time" had won the top of the weekly album CD ranking last July.

The first 10 times I (re)listened to it made me skip the OP until ep16 when I realized that there was an OP2

I listened to the OP again for another 6x straight and yes while the music itself is kind of catchy, I could endure the high pitch voice chorus until it hit the mid part which really sucks in composition imo and the OP animation was boring/too repetitive .... it must've been appealing to moe-blob fans though.

tl;dr- It's not too bad of a song but the #1 spot definitely was just a popularity thing.

I like Go Go Maniac really much though, even if it's in the last place, and even if I'm not a japanese so I can't enjoy it like them xD It's fun. Though I gotta be pretty hyped up to listen to it, I'm not always in the mood. But yeah, when I first heard it, I was also like... WTF DID YOU GUYS DO TO MAH ANIME, but then I listened to it 3-4 more times and now I love it ^_^

At first annoying... but good if heard over over again..

You kidding me? Our Magic is by far the worst song I've heard related to K-ON! so far. It's even worse than some of the character songs (which I didn't think highly of back then either). Listen!! fits perfectly for an ED, at least that is a song I like after having heard it several times. it;'s nowhere near as good as the OP, but worse than Our Magic? No.

I think Genius...! is a whole lot better than Our Magic.

oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Our magic sux. It's Yoko Hikasa's worst songs. Yoko Hikasa should only sing rock and pop songs, not peppy and lively one. That's Aki Toyosaki's domain.

Agreed with this guy, ED was mediocre.
it's just a generic pop-rock with simple chord progression playing over and over.
OP, in the other hand, the guitar riff, bass riff, keyboard riff are catchy and memorable.
The rhythm is interesting. The mix of Jazz style chord progression in this song awesome.
