Netflix Japan announced a third anime season of Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke (Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You) manga on Monday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured). The sequel will stream exclusively on Netflix worldwide in 2024.

Voice actors Mamiko Noto (Net-juu no Susume) and Daisuke Namikawa (Haikyuu!!) are reprising as Sawako Kuranuma and Shouta Kazehaya, respectively. Production I.G is also returning to produce the anime.

The shoujo romance manga ran in Bessatsu Margaret from August 2005 to November 2017. Shueisha published the 30th and final volume in March 2018. Shiina launched the Kimi ni Todoke Bangai-hen: Unmei no Hito sequel in the same magazine in April 2018, and ended it in May 2022. Shueisha released the third and final volume last July.

VIZ Media licensed the original manga in English in 2009 and published the 30th and final volume in December 2018. The company also licensed the sequel manga and plans to begin publishing it in Spring 2024.

Production I.G produced the 25-episode first season in Fall 2009, followed by the 12-episode second season in Fall 2011. NIS America licensed and released both anime seasons on home video in North America.

A live-action movie adaptation opened in Japan in September 2010. A 12-episode live-action drama produced by TV Tokyo and Netflix premiered on March 30.

@KurumiNightmare I guess records are meant to be broken, assuming 13 years is the record between anime seasons, and it sounds like it is. So happy for fans. Gives us all hope for other anime as well.

Forgot to comment here but… Awesome!

Everyone was always convinced they’d never adapt the rest of the manga, even me. Lol.

I've tried to read and watch this series multiple times in the last 10 years and I just cannot get into it. I think the pace just moves slow even by shoujo standards.

I'm glad it's getting a third season but I'm curious if it's going to update the animation. The poster shows pretty on par art but that means literally 0 until I see a trailer.

Thank you for sharing the update! It's great news for fans of "Kimi ni Todoke" that a third anime season has been announced and is set to premiere in 2024. This beloved shoujo romance series has had a dedicated following, and the return of the voice actors and Production I.G's involvement is sure to be exciting for fans. Additionally, the availability of the sequel manga in English through VIZ Media in Spring 2024 will provide even more content for fans to enjoy. It's a testament to the enduring popularity of the series.

@bucciest In that case, wish they would also adapt the spin-off manga and don't forget about the Fruits Basket sequel.

BRUH. I literally said this in response to the "Kimi Ni Todoke" live action adaptation a couple of months ago:

There's only so many times "Kimi ni Todoke" should get adapted with it never reaching the end. As someone who recently finished the manga, it gets so much better and that needs to be covered, too. (Then again, with this new series being under Netflix I highly doubt it. They should just pick up the anime again.)

My wish has been granted.

@iikiteiru This is due to the dramatic increase in the pace and scale of the industry, which has seen producers turn their attention to old-new genres, themes and demographics. In the past, shoujo almost died due to the idea that the genre was unprofitable, as most girls preferred doramas, and most of the popular shoujo were either gender neutral or perfect hits like Yuri on Ice.

@RobertBobert That’s so truee! But I meant that for some years since 2010s, not many shoujo anime were made. But these past 3? years, there’s sooo many adaptations of shoujo manga/light novel, and now kimi ni todoke, which 12 years have passed since last season. Like I gave up on many other old shoujo manga adaptation/sequels ever happening but now there’s HOPE!
