'Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi' Announces Main Cast

The official website for the movie adaptation of Mei Hachimoku's Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi (The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbye) light novel announced the main cast on Thursday. The movie is scheduled to open in Japan in Summer 2022.

Anzu Hanaki: Marie Iitoyo (Gekijouban City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes)

Tomohisa Taguchi (Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World - The Animated Series) is directing the movie at animation studio CLAP (Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san).

Hachimoku submitted the sci-fi mystery novel at the 13th Shogakukan Light Novel Award in 2018 and won both the Gagaga Award and Jury Special Award. Shogakukan published the light novel under the Gagaga Bunko imprint in a single volume in July 2019, featuring illustrations by Kukka (Gunjou Sanka).

Koudon began drawing a manga adaptation on the Sunday Gene-X monthly magazine and the MangaONE platform in July 2020. The latter released the final chapter on October 15. Shogakukan shipped the fourth volume on December 21 of last year.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in English this July and plans to publish the first volume of each on May 10 and July 26, respectively.

Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi ranked among the top ten titles in the tankobon category in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2020 rankings.

Last time I believe I elected to wait for more info, what with liking CLAP but not being sold on the plot. And while this pair of cast members don't seem any kind of familiar, I think I'll give them a shot, seeing lesser-known names is something of a fancy of mine.
