Complaints Against the New One Piece OP Song Surge to Toei Animation

According to J-Cast, the official BBS of Toei Animation has been filled with hundreds of complaints against the new OP theme song of "One Piece". The audience resented that the new song was completely mismatched with the serious OP animation.

The new OP song "Kaze wo Sagashite" is a tie-up work with a TV quiz program "Quiz! Hexagon II" and the singers are idols and comedians. Toei Animation said it's usual to see such negative reactions when theme songs are switched. They don't plan to make any explanations to the audience and the new song is likely to be used for the next one year.

I haven't watched the anime yet, but c'mon, just because the opening is bad doesn't wreck the whole experience. Why not just mute it?

Everyone was all worked up over it, and now One Day, i dont even know why the opening was a problem, it was pretty good. Plus, Mismatched is technicly impossible, on some levels, One Piece is Japanese, Kaze wo Sagashite is Japanese, therefor, on the most basic level, it is not mismatched!

I miss the endings, the endings always have that good mellow song that is perfect for a closure during a huge cliff hanger.

Implying that We Are, Crazy rainbow and pretty much every single opening before this one didn't do this.

And "kid's show" always sounds pretty bad, but do remember that One Piece's target audience is 12-17 year old boys. It most definitely isn't wrong to like it in your twenties or even thirties, but don't be expecting darkish ambientish fusion jazzish opening song.

Every opening before this I LOVED. This just didn't cut it for me and thank god its over. Not expecting "darkish ambientish fusion jazzish opening song" (w/e that is).

Ah, I really like this opening. :) Especially moment when Hannibal with some randoms are hailing and then is coming sweet "yeeeey"

LoL we all thought the same. This maybe the only OP I skip and hate and they're using it for a whole year!! My god they're trying to get 5 year olds to watch the show too. The previous OP that was a remix of "We are!" was much better than this. Even though I love "We are!" (both original and remix).

What? This is one of the better openings they've had so far! I think it fits fine. The actual opening video itself is odd with the animals and whatever at the start, but the song is fine. It makes One Piece seem like a more legitimate anime I think. Some of their other songs make it look like such a kids show.

Actually since the arc is pretty long, according to the episode count and the manga im guessing there is going to be another opening half way through the arc so i wouldn't worry so much.

Personally, I didn't like a single OP & ED. Except the very first original OP.

Yes, but even if there was a happy ending, this arc is quite dark, and the stakes are so important... I really hope that by the time the anime catches up to the last chapters, there will be a new opening
