According to Rocket News, a ground-breaking ceremony for an amusement park featuring one piece was held in Dafeng city in China on May 16th. The area of the park will be 135.5 ha and the total cost for the construction will be about $75 million. However, Shueisha, the publisher of One Piece replied to the inquiry of Rocket News that they have not granted an official permission to the project. Although the official Chinese translation of One Piece is "航海王", the name of the amusement part is a theme park featuring "海賊王", which is the common translation of One Piece used in pirated products.

Good old China haha. Thing is, they know damn well they can do whatever the fuck they want. Anyways this sounds kind of cool, I'd love to be a kid and go visit a One Piece theme park.

"No - Copy? Right!"

Am I the only one who thinks that Shueisha are the ones trying to make easy money? Why give a fuck about what they do since the only thing that matters is that everyone would want a ride in one of these?

Well it's because china would be making a tooooon of money of a product that doesn't belong to them and should go to the respected owner who has put in many years and worked hard to make this series... They are ripping oda off

The chinese One Piece themepark with such characters as: Muffy, Boro, Mani, Fusopp, Lanji, Hopper, Rico Nobin, Tranky and Grook.

The question is what can Japan do about it? I don't think China will allow Japan to shutdown that theme park. If other multinational companies can't stop China from making pirated goods then there is no way Shonen Jump and Oda can stop this.

China is one big bully. If you think this is bad. How about those border disputes in Mongolia or Spratly Island and Scarborough Shoal standoff in the Philippines? China is trying to expand their territories by literally ignoring international laws!!! And the worse part is, they have 2nd biggest GDP next only to the US!!! IF they ever become a super power, say good bye to copyright laws and world peace!!!

Is it really that hard to obtain permission to build the park?

Well yeah, its not easy considering it will require a lot of paper work and a lot of money.

And once again, China trying to copy Japan. -_-

The concept of copyrighted doesn't exist in China.

Sure it does, they just don't give a rat's ass about foreign copyrights.

If I recall correctly, there is a One Piece theme park in Japan as well. Could be wrong though.

China trolling again... They don't seem to learn very well.

As a chinese, I have to say I can never understand how local goverment officals' brains work. Perhaps they think in a bureaucratic way XD

No, it's really very simple, they're extreme nationalists who don't care what foreigners and foreign interests think.

Better luck next time, China.

First gundam copyright, then a angry birds copyright(which i think got settled in someway) and what now, a one piece copyright. what is this madness

I'm pretty sure I read an article stating they did get permission to build this amusement park, which was a shock to everyone.

Was that a lie or a misprint from where ever I read it?

May 22, 2012 9:41 PM by VCH

they just rename it "Two Piece". voila, original!

May 22, 2012 6:50 PM by tembikai

Hahaha, I don't know what to say about it, I do love One Piece, but I'm more likely going to China first rather than Japan and I really do want to be in a One piece theme park!

But that's bad for Oda-sensei! :S

Coming from the place that produces products like "Somy, iPob, PZP" and so on, this isn't particularly interesting.

HAHA considering that, I don't want to see fake/ugly one piece stuff in the park...

I hope they'll give permission to China, but I don't think so... XD
