'Mahoutsukai no Yome: Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi' OVA Reveals Pair of Cast, Trailer
The official website for the original video anime trilogy based on Kore Yamazaki's Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus' Bride) manga, Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi (Boy from the West and Knight of the Blue Storm), revealed two additional cast members and a trailer on Friday. The special edition of manga volumes 16–18 will bundle the OVA episodes. The 16th volume will ship with the first episode on September 10, with pre-orders being accepted through June 13.
Cast
Gabriel: Hiromi Igarashi (The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls)
Nazo no Shounen (Mysterious Boy): Aoi Ichikawa (Just Because!)
Atsumi Tanezaki (Zankyou no Terror) and Ryouta Takeuchi (Haikyuu!!) are reprising their starring roles as Chise Hatori and Elias Ainsworth, respectively.
Studio Kafka, a new animation studio established by Twin Engine, will head the OVA's production, succeeding Wit Studio. Kazuki Terasawa (Shoukoku no Altair episode director) is helming the series. Aya Takaha (Mahoutsukai no Yome) is returning to pen the script with Youko Yonaiyama (Uma Musume: Pretty Derby (TV)). Hirotaka Katou (Hoozuki no Reitetsu) is also returning as the character design.
Yamazaki launched the magic fantasy manga, also known by its short title Mahoyome, in Monthly Comic Blade in November 2013 before transferring it to Monthly Comic Garden due to the former ceasing serialization. Mag Garden simultaneously serializes the manga on its MAGCOMI website. The 15th volume shipped on March 10.
A three-episode OVA subtitled Hoshi Matsu Hito (Those Awaiting a Star) produced by Wit Studio was bundled with volumes sixth through eight in 2016–2017, followed by a 24-episode television anime that aired from October 2017 to March 2018
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in October 2014 and published the 14th volume on April 27.
