Bandai Namco Arts opened an official website for a television anime adaptation for their upcoming Scarlet Nexus action role-playing game on Thursday, revealing the main cast, a teaser visual (pictured) and a teaser promotional video. The anime is being produced by Sunrise for the Summer 2021 season and will be streamed by North American anime distributor Funimation.

Synopsis
Solar calendar year 2020: grotesque organisms called Others have begun eating people. To take down this new enemy, the Other Suppression Force is formed. Saved by this elite team as a child, psychokinetic Yuito withstands the training to enlist. On the other hand, prodigy Kasane was scouted for her abilities. But Kasane's dreams tell her strange things, dragging the two into an unavoidable fate. (Source: Official site)

Junya Enoki (Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited) and Asami Seto (Chihayafuru) are starring as protagonists Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall, respectively.

The video game is currently being developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment and is set to release on June 26 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and Series S.

The protagonist's powers can be upgraded through accessing the BRAIN MAP, which serves as the game's skill tree. As players progress, they would encounter different party members who would assist them in combat. Each companion has their own unique combat abilities, which can then be acquired by the protagonists through an ability named BRAIN LINK.

trailer looks bad, i skipped game based anime like tales. hope the pacing or character is better in this show.

I kind of wish they had done this with Code Vein. Hopefully both the game and anime end up being good.

Really? Making and anime adaption before the game even comes out? Doesn’t sound like the best move, if the game flops the anime will probably also flop

Seem like anime adaptation has been planned from the get go, given that they cast mainstream VAs like Junya Enoki-Asami Seto for a non-franchise new game.

What in the Code Vein fuck...? lol

Sunrise with a game adaptation, hopefully it'll be good.

So is this a full adaptation or just a tie-in? Since the game isn't out yet I'd imagine the latter.

I guess I'll make a note of it and check back later.

Bandai really going for that multi-media hype.

I'm grateful that sunrise never disappoints. hopefully this too.

wow. late to the party? plus you left out some stuff. i guess official channels via Funimation give their Senior Managing Editor Nicholas Friedman a lot more clout.

here's his article: https://www.funimation dot com/blog/2021/03/18/scarlet-nexus-anime-from-sunrise-to-stream-on-funimation-this-summer/

here's an important part you missed:

"Scarlet Nexus will stream on Funimation in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, United Kingdom and Ireland; on AnimeLab in Australia and New Zealand; and on Wakanim in Russia, France, Germany and Scandinavia."

i know my EU and Eng./Ire. buddies would love to know that.

I've been looking forward to playing the game when it comes out (same developer that made Code Vein), but I didn't expect it to get an anime, and before the game is even out. Probably gonna play the game first and avoid watching the anime, since the anime will probably spoil everything that is in the game.
