Wizard Entertainment's Editor-in-Chief Scott Gramling confirmed that Anime Insider will cease publication with its 67th issue, which shipped earlier this month. Anime Insider began as a quarterly called Anime Invasion in 2001; it changed its name in 2003, and eventually became a monthly publication in 2005. Anime Insider is a North American anime and manga periodical.

Reportedly all of the staff has been laid off.

Anime Insider joins Viz's Animerica and ADV's Newtype USA as publications that have ceased publishing or general distribution. There will be no monthly anime magazines published in US.

I was still grabbing this, to be honest, except for Newtype this was my favorite, and really helped me get into anime when I started, that is what it was a good starter mag, I will seriously miss it.

And not to mention EGM died and I still have til 2010 to go for that one.. ><

*sigh* And yea, I suppose Anime Insider really was just more an anime pamphlet of ads and stuff. >_>

Could be worse; at least Anime Insider sucked unlike some of the other anime magazines that have been canceled.

I DID NOT say in my original article that no anime magazines will be published in the US. I only said that other anime magazines had ceased publication in North America, namely Newtype USA and Animerica (the latter is now only issued within the industry).

Thank you.

These magazines were more booklets of ads (information about titles given by the same companies who sell them) than they were useful purveyors of information. I'm glad to see them go. Animerica Extra was a great semi-indie manga mag, but that's been out of business for a while already.

I quoted the line from Anime!Anime!. I think the reason why Anime!Anime! didn't mention Otaku USA is it's bimonthly mag and focusing on Japanese pop culture as a whole.
