The winners of the 2013 Newtype Anime Awards were announced at the Machi Asobi Vol.11 event. The winners were selected by fans in magazine and online polls. The participants were anime and anime movies that aired or opened between October 2012 and September 2013.

Everyone keeps saying the light novel is better blah blah blah. Of course it is in terms of story-telling. But people don't realise that the anime stayed true to it's source material. The light novel still had the same problem, a major timeskip, even if they didn't include side stories, the chapters started with kirito vs the lizard monster at floor 74. Then it went to episode 1, and back to floor 74.

So you're saying the Light Novel is shitty too?

The depth put in the light novel is great, but the direction/pacing is the same as the anime without all the side stories. Other then the depth, light novel is as shit as the anime.

I'd certainly consider myself a fan of SnK overall but series is still too overrated, especially with some of the worst characters I've come across (that is, while in a good storyverse). It's "fresh" take by splattering the screen with death and gore seems to have given the masses some kind of pseudo high over far better properties. Psycho-Pass was easily the best anime QQ. Oh well.

Glad to see Akane Tsunemori on the top 3 for female characters. She was the part of Psycho Pass I enjoyed the most!

At first, when I started watching SnK, she was decent for me. I thought she was an interesting character but the thing is, we didn't get to see much from her. It was always everything revolving around Eren. She's powerful and badass, but I'm prefer the type of character that would have inner conflicts and insecurities about themselves instead of her, the emotionless character that only shows faces when it's about Eren. (Note: This only applies to how I view female characters; I judge male characters a bit differently)

Yes. All she thinks about is Eren. She's basically just a puppet, and it's like Eren controls her somehow. She hardly has a mind of her own, and does she have dreams of her own? "I want Eren's dream to come true" isn't a dream. Why does she want to kill the titans? Is it the same reason as Eren? Or is it different? She has to have a reason. Not just, "Eren wants to kill them, so I want to kill them too."

Somewhat. As I explained later, I think some people give too much credit to few individual scenes and forget too easily about everything else, I refuse to mimic such selective mindset. If I'm talking about quality of animation, I'm talking about all of it, therefore I can't praise SnK for this aspect, it would be simply unfair.

Annie isn't a bitch.. This is a mistake on the anime's part because she was out of character a majority of the Anime so people perceive her as a bitch when she isn't... She is much more complex than Mikasa and the other girls in snk and I found her way more enjoyable also.. Annie is one of my favorite characters so it makes me upset when she is perceived wrongly

Hanji, christa, and Sasha and the other girls get much less screen time and development than the others to really even be considered.

I think it has less to do with MY show didn't make the list and more to do with why the hell is THAT show on the list. It's a top10. I'm not complaining too much as I did enjoy most of the shows in that list so maybe ordering and of course absence of titles is still a gripe.

I have a question, is Majestic Prince more popular in Japan than its sales might suggest? I mean, it's sales were okay I guess, but I don't think they indicated that it would be ranked in polls as the 2nd best anime of 2013...Not that I hate it (haven't finished it yet, but after dropping it early on then picking it back up, I actually like it), but it's kind of surprising to see it have such a high ranking based on votes. Also for Mecha, Valvrave and Gargantia had much higher sales I thought, so that's somewhat surprising as well. Perhaps a lot of non buying watchers liked MJP? Anyone know?
