In the Media Factory fan event "Bunko J Natsu no Gakuensai 2013" held in Akihabara today, it was announced that five light novels will be adapted into anime. One of them is "Seikoku no Dragonar." The light novel started in June 2010 and so far 13 volumes have been published.

Just got around to read few chapters and they bored me to tears. Generic fantasy setting, generic set of characters (particularly the irritating dragon loli), and rampant uninvited panties and boobs shots here and there. The plot itself is very formulaic, with each arcs are basically about the hero saving damsel in distress and slowly building his harem, a direction that i generally despise of in many LN adaptations.

Almost got on the hype train, but I gotta ask before that, why did they feel the need to use a "Pink-haired semi-loli tsundere"? and why did they make it a harem anime? There are tons of appearances and attitudes that could be used for a dragonic female, but they chose one that barely suits a dragon? and harems and dragons don't seem like they'd be something that would mix well at all.

Not to rag on the story, since I haven't started it yet, and The premise is fairly interesting if they treat it as a supernatural slice of life anime, but It doesn't feel like it would be the kind of story that would require, or even benefit from the generic tsundere.

It might prove me wrong, and be done better in this story than I expect, but I get the feeling it'll lose more people than it gains just from the type casting. I know I almost completely wrote it off because it felt generic after looking at the character designs, but the dragons made me want to give it a chance.

Probably Summer or Fall, it'll give me enough time to start the LN since by then my gaming will be winding down since next gen in Japan will be slow moving.

I prefer the illustration style in the LN better but then it is still too early to say how good the character design is until we see the actual animation.

Really? I felt like the main character looked like a child in the LN illustrations (what I saw it in the PV) which is why I prefer the anime visuals, but each to their own preferences.

I like the designs of the two lolis but the other characters seem average to slightly above average.

tbh I prefer this far more than the LN illustration but that mostly has to do with the guy up front more than anything. Going to still need to see how it'll actually look animated, though.

Omg wow I've missed some fucking terrific news the last couple of days. Yes! I can't wait to see this. Love the chars in this series. And Rie would be just perfect for Eiko.

Sounds like ZnT reversed with Dragon Crisis combined. Other than mechas dragons always interested me and a harem-echhi to add on top of that. Let's hope this turns out well.

When I saw the name Dragonar I admit I jumped out of my seat with my first thought being something related to this but alas it's another part of the light novel adaptation news wave. The premise sounds pretty hilarious though.

Something similar came across my mind too. Sadly i only know them from SRW and ACE games as it's pretty hard to find the older series now-a days.

oh my gods. I KNEW it sounded familiar.

I would love to see a remake of that with present day's budget, especially in current times when everyone tries to fill in Gundam shoes(due to Sunrise failing spectacularly now). A reimagination of that would have an actual chance.

I got a feeling Rie is going to play a leading role in this.

I'd be very surprised if it turned out to be someone else was given the role.

The manga been great so far... it has the same vibes as Zero no Tsukaima which makes me wonder who is going to voice the tsunderes.
