Not really, you are doing the same, saying you really hope it goes beyond 20k, right? ;) So if it turns out to be 19k I lose but I am happy. In fact I thought about guessing 14k-19k but at the last moment I turned conservative and wrote 13k-18k. I have a feeling I will regret my conservatism... :-)

Heart or brain....decision....decision
I believe my heart but I follow my brain. 17k it is. Because this is for the bragging right, I will be vigilant about the numbers, so watch out :D

Well, it was released before the bombshell of ep.12 was aired. I just came back from reading the Japanese forums, and boy the discussions and debates about Love Live exploded. Whatever impact this episode has for the sales of the series, it will not be reflected in vol.1 sales.

I have some thoughts on on the cliffhanger as well. But I will put them in the Love Live! forum later today :)

That said, I really hope it goes beyond 20k. But we need to remember that this is a short week for Love Live! since it was released two days later than other stuffs
True, that may be 1k difference but this will be assuming a 3k or so for 2nd week sale which I am not sure is that likely. So the 2 days difference may come down to <1k difference in sales.

Also, any comment on the timing? I personally think this is the best time to release. With the series ending, any lack of recognition before is now gone. People realize how good the show is, not just some kind of Idolm@aster clone. Episode 12 just aired so it will squeeze in some last-minute decision based on the new-found drama as well. If I were hesitated before, I would certainly buy it now to support Honoka-chan :)

My prediction is 17k, meaning you would be right if sale is 14k for example. But I would be right if sale is 17,300 because I chose a shorter range and therefore, I'm more accurate.

I guess i'll join in with 15~20k. Always thought the minimum was around 15k based on how underestimated Little Busters! ended up. Well we'll see tomorrow, lol.

^ it's funny how you guys chose the best options youself, then ask everyone to pick up the bones. XD. My prediction is about 17k, no less. However, just as a bonus, I will pick any number more than 18k for my bragging right :))

^ Love Live just might reach 20k or get very close to it....

I sure hope so, Wonderful Rush indeed!

Watching episode one a few times on BD1 on Friday I remembered that the Soundtrack includes the Arise insert song. Preordered...

I always score high so I will guess 18K-23K.

^ Great I think we have a prediction game here. Of course no prize but perhaps a bit of bragging right. ;-)

How about setting the range of guess as 5k? You said the sales will be 10k-15k. My take will be 13k-18k, but I will be happy to be wrong if the sales goes to 19k 20k or beyond.

Wonder if anybody would like to join in....

Mar 25, 2013 4:13 AM by symbv

^ I'm betting on the opposite. I'm still rooting on 10k with a max on 15k. But man, the last episode was so dramatic everyone might be begging for a happier 2nd season and buy the blurays to support it.

It's still doing very strongly at Amazon as well, where the Stalker prediction of 10.6k doesn't account for the release week sales any more.
I would say that the prediction model of the Amazon Stalker should take into account of the sales in the release week (for a good prediction model it should) but we do not know how it does the adjustment. If an anime title has a really fat or long tail, then Stalker will be underestimating even more. Perhaps this is what happens for Love Live here.

Stalker used to account for release week sales by accumulating points for 1 week after release day. This however allowed some titles such as Tari Tari, end up extremely overestimated due to its strong Amazon ranking during release week.

I guess it's kind of hard for Stalker to accommodate all scenarios... but it's doing quite a good job for predicting 1st week sales nevertheless. The ones which are particularly skewed towards Amazon or storefront, seem to be the most deviated no matter what algorithm Stalker uses.

I have heard that Stalker slightly reduces the daily accumulated points towards the cumulative points for titles that get particularly popular to reduce overestimation... but i'm not sure if it still occurs.

Love Live! and Horizon II do seem very very close now. If Love Live! were to rank above Horizon again for Mar 24... then it could be almost certain that it has outsold Horizon with ~20k-ish?
This is precisely the talk in 2ch Sales Thread the last few days. The point is if LoveLive really sells 20k or even a lower number but close (say 18-19k) it still means a very big deviation from the Amazon Stalker projection (which is 10.6k). For me, I can see a level of underestimation that can put LoveLive up to 15-16k but the question is: Is it going to do even better than that?

I've been predicting ~15k as well, however it has been doing a bit better (IMO based on the daily rankings) than Little Busters! did at Gamers and softmap... and even ranking a few times on the Animate Top 10. It's still doing very strongly at Amazon as well, where the Stalker prediction of 10.6k doesn't account for the release week sales any more.

- In the BD chart, Kurobas rises and Nanoha dropped below Kurobas. Chu2byo also rises to overtake Psycho-Pass.

- A new entry in the DVD chart: the short anime for the Gachaman franchise.

Do you think there will be a shortage of 1st week sales this time around for GaruPan v3? The restock is now 21 days compared to the 6 days that GaruPan v2 initially had. Maybe Amazon JP is being a lot more cautious this time around...
I think the risk of stock outage is real although far from the severity we see back in vol.1 time. Of course it is also possible Amazon wants to keep out any chaos and so try to be more cautious this time.

^ Key observations;

- Clearly Love Live is strong in shopfront as most shops deliver their orders on the official release date. Now it may just beat Horizon2 when the full week's data come in.

- On the other hand, we can see GalPan is more skewed towards internet retail channel as online retailers usually try to send their orders a bit earlier.
-

That'd be amazing if Love Live! ends up beating Horizon. I had it pinned at minimum 15k because of how underestimated Little Busters! ended up being. Love Live! is actually doing pretty well on Amazon JP as of lately... but there's the danger of sales being significantly lower from v2 onwards since v1 only had 1ep and is cheaper than the other volumes. Hopefully not!
