According to Nikkei News, Tezuka Production will provide all the Tezuka Osamu's works published before 2000 for free within the next three years. About 700 titles of manga and 100 titles of anime will be available online on the web site " TezukaOsamu.net". Currently, the first one or two episodes of manga and the first 8 - 15min of the anime episodes are provided. They will make English and Korean web sites in the near future.

In this December, Tezuka Production will provide all of Tezuka Osamu's characters and movies to "Niconi-Commons", a licensed material database for the secondary creation. Users of "Niconico Douga" are allowed to create MAD/AMV using these materials.

Thats an impressive body of work to become available for free. Now, this will help spread Tezuka to those who aren't aware of his works yet.

Pretty cool idea, as it will no doubt get more people to buy hard copies anyway. I know I like to have an actual copy of my favorite series.

I'll just have to wait for the English website. Otherwise, this is good news.

You can't argue with free. Unless free gets drunk, in which case he's a total arsehole.
