I kind of wonder what the sudden reappearance of Madoka in the Anime BD sales ranking in Amazon JP the last week or so means.... Does it mean it failed to sell enough to be in BD top 100 even though the top one made into no.16 best selling of titles currently available in Amazon?

if story/material to be animated was what matter to decide whether the show will get second season or not, we'd already get Spice and Wolf season 3 ageeeeees ago
I don't think Kurimu-chan was implying source material availability is the only thing that matters. Obviously sales are needed too. It's just taken as a given that KuroBas has more than enough sales to warrant a sequel (or three).
S&W II, unfortunately, didn't sell enough to warrant a sequel. Sales just dropped too much from season one. And with the novels over, it's never going to happen now. Sadly.
yes I'm aware that S&W II was not doing really well in term of sales. not to mention Brain Base rarely (or even never?) make a sequel for series other than natsume, basically I gave up of all hope for S&W III long time ago...although yes I'll be more than happy if suddenly there is announcement about it
his post was biased towards material availability to be adapted into anime (as he stated 2 more enemies, top seiyuu, teaser) hence I gave an example (S&W & S&W II in this case) which had enough (finished) material to guarantee 2-3 more season of anime adaptation but no news so far, it's just an example and it can be any "no sequel anime adaptation that has enough material to be animated"
and yes that's what I was trying to imply, sales, rating and "other factors" are also important not just "the story is not finished so it will be weird if we don't get a sequel"

I guess I'll catch up with Shirokuma Cafe after Chuuni ends, I need weekly dose of fabulous Jun-kun.
There's also Ixion Saga DT. It's, uhhh, not a particularly impressive show by any means, but he gets to play an, er, interesting role. I'm totally watching it just for him and Mikami Shiori (A~kari~n!).

Actually I find Ixion Saga DT to be truly impressive - by beating expectation by a long league and being extremely funny (even more so if you know Japanese). I can only say I am very impressed by the broadmindedness of Capcom in allowing this anime (which has 2 cours) to be a promotion anime for its online game (which is also called Ixion Saga).
And Akarin was really good -- I could not tell it is her until I pay close attention (and then double-check the cast credit)

This. Its pretty much guaranteed, it may end up a Bakuman type of thing where theres a new 25 Episode series announced each year.
Be patient folks.

Wow all of these worry over KuroBas 2nd season. Its WSJ's property, aside its just a moment ago the 1st season ended. Its also not like another anime. We need to wait an random Weekly Shounen Jump issue and BAM we get the 2nd season announcement, its not like another anime that only need little section in monthly anime magz, for KuroBas (or any other WSJ title) the anime news gonna out in WSJ first.

So NHK has alot of time and money on their hands, eh?
Just like BBC, supported by toll that is charged to every household in the country, NHK has no problem of time and money to spend on project they consider "worthy".
If you look at other anime sponsored by NHK, many get a second season (or more) but the BD/DVD do not sell well at all.

Top 16 in which category?
As I said, "anime BD titles currently available in Amazon JP". Not any stalker chart or sales ranking you find in Amazon, but I look at the Anime BD ranking and take out only the anime titles that you can buy right now (which means it should have sales tabulated by Oricon as it is real sales not advanced sales).
In the recent movie-inspired bump (which peaked from the 15th to the 18th), none of the six volumes ever went above 150th place in the all-DVD/BD ranking.
Guess that's why. Did not make it to top 100 among all BD/DVD that are available for sales.
