Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Movie Trailer

The first full trailer for the movie Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann: Guren-hen is up on the official Japanese movie website. The film will be released in Japan on September 6th, and the series of Gurren Lagann will premiere in the U.S. on the Sci-Fi channel on July 28th.

1.0 is a retelling/remake or even a whole different universe, 2.0 will be the same with supposedly a lot of new material(you can tell from the preview) and 3.0 + 4.0 are completely new films.

It is. The first movie covers the first half of the series and the second movie that comes out next year covers from the 7 year skip until the end.

Not really, the RoE series is an alternate re-telling of the series with new characters and events, the GL movies are just re-used footage from the TV series telling the exact same story again.

It is, there just re-editing the TV series together into a movie with only a handful of new scenes, if any at all. I'm still mad GAINAX pushed Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 back 3 months to put this out first so they wouldn't compete with each other at the theaters. I like Gurren Lagann and all, but I would much rather see the brand new Eva over a re-cap movie any day.

I actually thought they were going to do what Bones is doing with the Eureka 7 movie. You know, the whole "same characters-new mythos" kind of thing.Shame, I wasn't crazy about the TV series, would have been nice.

Meh trailer showed nothing.

Even if it being just a recap, they should at least throw in a couple of new scenes.

Besides that Gainax just failed completely with that trailer.
