FUNimaton... 2 groups stopped subbing slayers because of them, therefore i consider them evil.

On the other hand, it's not like I buying a lot anime DVDs... They are quite expensive, so I think twice before, and end up buying a game instead...

The only problem I've had with ADV is the difficulty in finding DVDs of their series. At least if FuNimation has it, it's somewhat easier to find.

Welcome to Madman Australia/New Zealand. They already have a Monopoly over here on anime. And we are paying for it dearly.

Hardly. Madman's prices are actually quite reasonable, especially if you buy off the shelf from an authorised retailer (like JB) as opposed to off their site, which is a few dollars more + shipping.

Also, they do great specials at least twice a year, like at the moment they have a 30% off box set special for wholesale buyers; I've scored three complete series for $110.

not when you count the fact that your getting ripped off by extra's you don't get vs the ones you get with the US releases. I can get them from the US for the same cost via fedex which has it landed on my door 4-5 days later.

Good. They've been doing absolutely nothing with Sgt. Frog, hopefully someone picks that up and releases a boxset asap.

Funimation is getting tooooooooooooooo much titles now.. DD:

I have to agree. They're going to hinder the industry, more than help it, by flooding anime in all directions, and monopolizing every title.

D: Is ADV going outta business or something?

Woah, go Funimation. I actually prefer that seeing as their DVDs have decent prices and come with pretty good extras. S'all good but I kind of feel sorry for ADV. That's quite a blow.

Plus dubs aren't a problem as I don't watch them but even so Funi seems to have the upperhand.

I personally don't care about any of this because I am planning to buy the original Japanese DVDs anyways. Although it will take lots time, and lots of money, ... x-x

Is it just me, or is FUNi slowly taking over the world, and creating a monopoly?

This was on the forums at ANN, and I'm starting to agree:

1. Buy Geneon's titles.
2. Buy ADV's titles.
3. Buy Bandai's titles.
4. Take over the world.

Hmm, only two more to go.

oh god please no.

Bandai will survive. :<

Damn thats a bummer. I really am not a fan of funimation.. I prefer ADV. :( Well its a good thing i dont really watched dubbed anime as much as I do subbed. XD! Sucks for everyone else who does...

Meh, I didn't like their marketing plans anyway.

Oh god no, I hate FUNimation. So much. Just started recently watching FMA, Ed's voice sounds like a 30 year old mans, not a 15 year old kid. I have yet to watch the original cause they sent a C&D to a site where I get my episodes for nearly series. They better not ruin these other titles. Especially Air and Kanon.

At the funimation panel they announced pretty much all of these titles including the Geneon releases are theirs now. They also said that they are working with ADV and Geneon to ensure continuity in box design, and dubbing (they said they will continue using whatever VA's were on the series already), so it'll be like nothing ever happened, just a brief interruption and a different logo somewhere on the box. YAY ^_^

I'm hoping it'll be like before...I've been hesitant to buy the artbox + DVD for Wallflower because I had no idea if Funimation would change the format of the releases or just have a boxed set or who knows what.

As long as FUNimation does well with dubbing these anime series then I'm okay with it. I hope FUNimation does well with them like they are with 'One Piece'.

When will Yotsuba&! come out?

I want to know about the ongoing ADV manga series too. Hopefully Yen Press or Del Rey pick them up.

No, volume 6 will see a release although there is no concrete date for it yet. I posted earlier in the thread that Funimation is in talks with ADV for them to finish ongoing titles so there won't be any dub changes.
