They could adapt it to be a touring or rally car. A lot of the cars used in those sports are based off consumer cars, but are completely gutted and adapted to perform well in races. For example, the cars in this year's WRC championship are based off the Ford Fiesta, the Citreon DS3 and the Mini Countryman, which are all consumer cars.
I'm well aware of that. And it would do well if it was a Corolla model from years past, some of which were indeed the basis for rally cars (Corolla Celica GT-FOUR). But the current Corolla... it's just a people mover designed to get you from point a to point b and little more, and I'm guessing the chassis is built with that in mind and so doesn't take well to upgrades. There are regulations in place for most racing series over how much you can modify the car from the production model, this is called homologation. When you see super high performance editions of cars, its often for this reason, to build a race car from it. Toyota used to be about fun affordable cars, it isn't anymore. The new Toyota is all about safety, efficiency, etc. fun isn't really part of the equation--where does a Supra fit into a brand that also sells the Prius? It doesn't--that's why they stopped making them. I doubt Toyota is going to make a Corolla with the necessary modifications to homologate for a race car, because it wouldn't fit the car or the company's current image. I also doubt a 3rd party will mod a (current) Corolla because it would be too much in terms of resources spent on the car to make it competitive.
It seems otaku are falling for Toyota's scheme with the Miku campaign hook line and sinker. Instead of actually making a car young people want to drive all they did was slap Miku on it. Now they have otaku going crazy for a totally lame snore inducing car for no good reason. I'm angry at Toyota for exploiting Miku like this.

Not really a fan of putting Anime figures on a car.
In some cases it's a nice thing to see but on some cars it's just pure heresy.
What i mean is that some cars are best the way they are, about half a year ago i saw a picture of a Lancia Stratos in racing colors with some stickers on it from a eroge.
Which is just a waist of that car and i think those eroge stickers would be a needle in the eyes of every car fan out there.
Some cars should not be changed!
I also think car fans would not be happy to hear about that Ferrari with Ika Musume stickers either.
Well, some decals are just stick-ons and not really that hard to unveil, so I guess it shouldn't be that bad on the car.

That only problem with that is that the Miku car wasn't a Toyota Corolla.
