they knew it wouldn't sell anyway...
Uh, what? Going by preorders, its looking to be about K-on level in sales. Its one of the biggest anime hits in years
It was selling well a week ago when Otaku had money to spare, but will it still sell well now that Japan is on the verge of a financial crisis?
Most otakus biggest expense now is fixing their collections that may have fallen over in the earthquake. Very few people (like 10-20) died in the Tokyo region, and the Sendai region is an older region with less otakus than most places in the country. And Sendai region is only 1 million compared to 135 million in the whole country.
I don't mean to sound insensitive, but this really shouldn't impact the sales much if any.

We can get by without our anime fix for a few weeks, but those earthquake survivors can't get by without food, water, medical supplies or heating fuel for a few weeks. Getting everything back to some semblance of normalcy should be top priority

Not sure about the others, but Madoka was selling well.

I hope that the goods will still sell well when they do get released. The industry's already been hurting even before the quake.
Not sure about the others, but Madoka was selling well.

I agree on this comment...it will take so much time and money to help rebuild Japan to what is considered normal...
