There are those boring times that we experience in our lives. Leading us to try new things, may it be funny or serious or just plain something we want to do, and those experiences will give us a learning or two. I had two or more of those moments in my life, and what i did during one of those times was browse a random manga in a manga hosting site. And there i found a shimmering shining diamond. A manga titled Shokugeki no Souma.

Story: 9/10

The story is quite simple really, the protagonist, Souma Yukihira, has a father that has a world renowned culinary arts ...

I see that the other reviews aren't that positive but don't mind if I do:

Art is perfect. However, the part where the manga REALLY shines, are characters. Some people aren't happy with the recent development but after almost 300 chapters of couse someone will drop it. Personally this manga is the absolute #1 one best thing I've ever read and invested myself into, so if you are wondering whether to read this - of course you should it's a god damn masterpiece.

I have one problem: The ending is a bit rushed. I don't like that they skipped some battles so I've been wondering whethet ...

"How can a cooking show be this based?"

Now, now, that's what we readers always ask ourselves about this manga in particular, right?

It's incredible how enjoying a manga we presume it's bad can be. Our first reaction after recommending a cooking manga to a friend is always the same, we are greeted with a "That's lame, bro, I can make my spaghetti".

You are that friend right now, right?

Well, this is not your usual spaghetti. It's an epic spaghetti. Complemented with an art unrivaled in this genre. But I know that's not enough. Well, you have an alpha male main character as well, that pumps more blood ...

If you like typical shounen battle manga and ecchi but want a new taste this manga is for you. It's a Slight Ecchi Cooking Battle Manga (^ ^). Lots of tension, suspense, cliffhangers, satisfying wins, well MC does lose, but rarely because of MC protection. Art is great it's drawn by Saeki Shun who aslo did 'Our Love Counseling' great oneshot btw. Lots of foodgasm scene (LOL) basically scenes where the characters get orgasms after eating the delicious food (yum yum). Great story, MC trying to be the top in a hard to graduate 'superior elite school'. Action, yes, lots of action battles everywhere (It's ...

With every cooking manga I've read, I noticed that they always fall in either two categories. You've got heartwarming cooking manga who brings forth the importance of family, friendship, and community. On the other hand, you've got Shokugeki no Soma, who brings a battle shounen twist in the kitchen.

Shokugeki no Souma had a rather fun story. It was really entertaining to follow Souma's path into becoming a better chef. Like other battle shounen manga, it's an extremely fun read to follow the path of our protagonist, to see him try to become the best that ever was. I was incredibly entertaining to see the craziness ...

Yukihara Souma is a shonen hero in every sense of the name. He was holding a knife since he was aged 3 (bad anime dad trope check) and was routinely "helping" his school dinner ladies all through middle school. Cooking is a part of Souma's very existence it's only right that his one goal in life is to beat his mentor and become one of the greatest cooks who ever lived.

Story 9/10
Although centered around a very down to earth topic. Through a unique setting the story takes on an appeal that rivals the universes we've seen come out of shonen jump in the past. Using ...

the manga tells the story of Yukihira souma who dreams of becoming a great chef in the restaurant of your family and overcome his father's skills, Yukihira jouichirou. but he ends up closing the restaurant to cook in europa.souma ends up in the elite culinary school in which only 10% can graduate with this Yukihira will face the most varied wonders in culinary battles in cruel '' Shokugeki ''! !!!

The manga has a theme which is quite rare nowadays "Food" and "Cooking" with this may be hard to please some people but "shokugeki in Souma" managed to leave the nice manga and fun to ...

So here we have a cooking manga, running in Shonen Jump, set in high school, with a straightforward headstrong protagonist, some ecchi, some tsunderes, and it's all drawn by an artist known mainly for hentai. But hey, it's about cooking!! Haven't seen THAT in Jump before. No cliches here, right? ... RIght?!

Shokugeki no Soma isn't some mold-breaking, era-defining shonen manga. In fact, I would go so far as to say it's often formulaic and predictable. But my god is it entertaining. Every chapter, from the very beginning, has never failed to be exciting and memorable. And despite being a bit formulaic, there are some ...

Shokugeki no Souma is taking over the manga world by the storm. The volumes fly off the shelves and fans absolutely rave about it. And to good measure. The art is fantastic, the premise is interesting (food battles--what can I say, I'm a sucker of cooking manga), and there's a diverse cast of characters. That being said, I don't think Shokugeki no Souma will ever be regarded as a classic such as Hikaru no Go. The main reason being that the protagonist, Souma, wins too easily. He almost always pulls through in matches by thinking of some clever scheme. Not only that, but Souma doesn't ...

Shokugeki no Souma is a story about a mainstream boy who is trying to get through the toughest and most famous cooking school in Japan. Yukihira Souma has a dream of becoming a professional chef and surpass his father at cooking.

Story -10: Right now, the story is amazing. I've literally fell in love with this. It's no doubt one of the most unique and groundbreaking mangas I've read before. It mixes in lots of comedy, adventure, drama, school life, and even a little romance just do finish the cake! The story really reminds me of Prince of Tennis, Naruto, and Iron Chef all in ...

If you're looking for a great food manga to read, you've arrived at your destination. When Shokugeki No Souma describes the food, it goes in depth to the texture, the flavor, and anything else that makes food taste good. Wen you read this, there is a 90% guarantee that your mouth will start watering. The food looks delicious and the way it is described makes it even more delicious! I really enjoy Shokugeki No Souma. Now, let's not just focus on the food. The characters in this show have some good backgrounds that you can look into. Especially Soma's father. There will be no spoilers ...

Every time I think this manga is going to die down, it reads my mind and gives me exactly what I'm craving. The art is fantastic, the drama paced with miraculous precision, and the characters given life that transcends stereotype characters until you just fall in love with them. This manga gets better and better with each chapter, yet it's one that makes you want to read it all from the beginning each time something is added.

The only cons I can see is the tendencies to throw in ecchi moments... though I'm not quite sure that's a con since it's done so tastefully.

It's ...

There are 3 things I dislike; Ecchi, Harem and Erina-Sama.

Despite that what made me read this manga, I wanted to read a cooking manga and that crazy, homoerotic one just wasn't hitting the right spot unfortunately. So I decided to keep an open mind and read this one.

I'm going to keep it short, and just say I was pleasantly surprised. The focus in this story is food and glory. Simply loving food isn't good enough, you have to be excellent about making it. Ergo you have a high school entirely focused on shaping the future of the gourmet world via food contests and basically ...

I am now all caught up with Shokugeki no Soma also know as food wars. It's basically a sports manga but instead of a sports the high schoolers face each other in cooking competitions (the version of which they bet something is called a Shokugenki). I first started watched the anime (which is coming out when I write this) which I thoroughly enjoyed and then after I got into manga decided to stop watching the anime and to just read the manga. That said, the anime is quite awesome with excellent music, visuals, and adaptation of what happens when people eat tasty food. Even so, ...

Shokugeki no Souma has a brilliant concept.
Its strengts lay within the Charakters and their unique personalities and goals.
I enjoyed reading it, until the ''régiment de cuisine'' Arc ended.

Afterwards it suffered from a illness, which can be known as the ''Bleach-Syndrome''.
If you read the last 100 or so chapters it leaves way too much to be desired.

Many of the Charakters are more or less thrown out of the picture and you don't really see them any more (though that too happened after the ''autumn Election'' Arc to a degree).
The developement of the Main Charakters is mostly ignored just to press in new things. There is a ...

So, I'm writing my first Review ever here. Why for this Manga ? Dunno, just felt like it.

So Shokugeki no Souma is about a boy, who works at a small daily dinner his father owns - "The Yukihira's". He always competes with his father, but never seems to stand a chance. Than one day, his father suddenly goes somewhere outside of Japan and tells Souma to go to a Cooking Academy. He doesn't like the idea at first, thinks that it's child play, but he'll know very soon, that it isn't.

That should sum it up for this Review.

Now, let's start rating it.

I don't even know ...

I honestly didn't know when this manga would end but it finally has. Having picked it up during the anime adaptions airing season back in 2015 I have been faithfully reading Souma for 5 years, and even with it's ups and downs I am glad I was there for the journey even if not from the start.

The story following Yukihira Souma on his path to being one of the most outstanding cooks at Tootsuki Culinary Academy. This winding road has you meeting memorable characters over the course of Souma's road to perfecting his cooking style. You will see plenty of Shoukugekis, battles consisting of chef(s) ...

Shokugeki no Souma, or in English, Food Wars!, is, obviously, about students working their way up the food chain in the cooking industry. Centred in Toutsuki Academy, a prestigious cooking school with only a small group left to graduate after the gruelling examinations throughout the three years in high school. The concept of the story’s premises are definitely fascinating, in my opinion. In fact, both the manga and the anime brought up many interesting facts about the culinary world, that I would say was an educational experience for me. Thinking about that makes me wonder how much research did the authors Tsukuda Yuuto and Morisaki ...

I was waiting to start the manga after the conclusion of the first season of the anime but when they postponed the last episode, I said "WTF.. I am not gonna wait another week!!"

That was just because how amazing the anime was. And the Shokugeki no Soma manga doesn't disappoint in the least bit. Everything in the manga is just as amazing as it was in the anime(Well, I would still prefer watching anime to manga).

What makes Sholugeki no Soma manga such a success is that it has just the right amount of humor which is balanced well by the intense moments during the food ...

At first glance, it sounds like your standard shounen manga formula, doesn't it? A few chapters in, it certainly does affirm that sentiment.

What formula do you speak of, you ask ? Overpowered main character ; fights someone better -- loses initially or is faced with a seemingly insurmountable challenge --> actual battle, wins through a trump card or sheer will or something naive.

Shokugeki no Soma - however, thoroughly shocked and impressed me.
First things first, the art is amazing. Nuff' said. No complaints from me. I'm not a fan of ecchi - but the way it combines with food and writing - it does it ...
