There are many manga out there that people consider their favourites. Maybe it's because of its beautiful art. Or maybe it's for an intricate plot, or for their complex characters. In my case, it's a manga that has grasped my heart, and brought me enjoyment more than any manga. And that manga is Rojiura Kurashi.

Like many other slice of life manga, Rojiura Kurashi does not have a complex story. Following the life of Akame and Mashiro, Rojiura Kurashi brings the reader into their world, as we see them slowly developing a bond between one another. This manga has a simple story, and I love it. read more

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai is one of my favourite manga of all time. So naturally, when I heard that there was an official doujin, I simply could not not read it. And I do not regret it a single bit.

The story in Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Doujin-ban is crazy to say the least. Initially, I thought that this manga would simply be the usual daily life shenanigans of the characters of Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai with a lot of ecchi scenes. However, that ended up not being the case, and it started bringing the characters into alternate timelines, where they aren't the high school students we all know. read more

Taking care of children is never easy, especially if you're a teenager with no siblings. Imagine how you would feel when you were told you are to take care of a child you've never met before. It might be hard at first, but as time goes on, they'll eventually become someone important to you. And that is what happens in Hyakunichikan!!, where we follow Shuto, a high schooler who suddenly has to take care of Chiho, a 5-year-old girl.

The story is as simple as it goes. There isn't much I can say, except that it's a fun and charming story about two individuals who grow read more

In a world where anything can be turned into cute anime girls (or in this case, cute manga girls), it was only a matter of time until someone attempted to make cigarettes cute. However, sometimes cuteness does not hide away the quality of a manga, which is the case in Tabako-chan.

My biggest problem with the manga Tabako-chan has to be the story. Throughout the manga, I kept asking myself the question "What's the point?". The story just felt boring, and didn't go anywhere. The characters didn't have any purpose or goal that they wanted to achieve. We were just following the characters mundane daily life. read more

Yuuko-san wa Miraretai is a short doujinshi about an annoying ghost and a boy who can see her. The story was sweet and funny, as were the characters. Despite it being only two chapters, I had so much fun reading about the interactions between them two. Each interaction they had always ended with a laugh from me, and even when there was nothing inherently funny happening, I was still smiling, simply because the characters and story were fun.

Toshiya Wakabayashi has a distinct artistic style, which I love. This artistic style always emphasizes the characters expressions, making everything so much more funnier. To put it simple, read more

I like simple things. Sometimes, I just want to read a short and simple manga, without a complicated story or dramatic themes. And Mado kara Madoka-chan is a manga that fits exactly this.

As you might have guessed, Mado kara Madoka-chan doesn't have a complicated story. It's just a sweet story, revolving around Madoka and Oda, with their interactions being made through a window. And somehow, this manga never strays from this. Although it might be a turnoff for some people, who may think it's repetitive and whatnot, I really enjoyed this simple story.

Like the story, the art is good too. The character designs, although simple, read more

With every cooking manga I've read, I noticed that they always fall in either two categories. You've got heartwarming cooking manga who brings forth the importance of family, friendship, and community. On the other hand, you've got Shokugeki no Soma, who brings a battle shounen twist in the kitchen.

Shokugeki no Souma had an extremely fun story. It was really entertaining to follow Souma's path into becoming a better chef. Like other battle shounen manga, it's an extremely fun read to follow the path of our protagonist, to see him try to become the best that ever was. I was incredibly entertaining to see the craziness read more

The Fire Emblem franchise has never been exceptionally strong in the story department. Although there are a few games with a phenomenal story, most of the ones I've played have an average story. Fire Emblem Awakening is definitely one of those games. As such, how do you create a good manga from a game that does not have a great story? It'll have to be by focusing on the characters.

As mentioned before, the story in Fire Emblem Awakening is not great. However, one of its best points is its characters. This manga brings different characters from Awakening together, and presents interactions that are not seen read more

Life is all of choices. Every second of your life, you have to make a choice, sometimes subconsciously. People you meet will likely tell you to "make your own choices". However, what if you couldn't, and the choices you had to make would be rather questionable? We'll explore this question, as we enter the world of Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru, which I will be referring it to as NouCome.

In NouCome, we follow a simple yet hilarious series of comedic events. With Kanade Amakusa, the protagonist having to face a rather embarrassing choice each episode, it creates read more

I have a strange feeling when reading shounen manga. On one hand, I sometimes find those boring if they utilize common tropes that are found in nearly any shounen manga I read. On the other hand, I love the utilization of these tropes, as they bring forth the essence of what a shounen manga truly is. To make short, the use of these shounen tropes must be used well in order for the manga to be enjoyable. As to where I am going with this, it is simply to tell you that Shuukan Shounen Hachi utilizes these tropes really well.

Personally, the story of Shuukan Shounen read more
