Kids see ghosts
reportRecommended by Kuro76
In both stories MC can see spirits/monsters that other people can't. Both stories also have few exceptions (meaning, there are few other people with the same ability too)

both follow protag who can see shit people can't see, both had amazingly grotesque monster with a chapter per chapter kind of plot

Both main characters can see ghosts, and are very scared of them. The imagery and drawings of the ghosts really reminded me of each other, although the plots are pretty different.

The duos of girls are pretty similar, one is a short-haired, energetic, and cheerful sweetie with big boobs (Hana & Kanade), while the other one has long hair, is anxious, and has a worried/frightened expression most of the time (Miko & Izumi).

* ghosts * unique organic storytelling: both slice-of-life cute romance comedy & truly horrifying scary stuff * strong main mystery on top of the episodic stories * interesting characters * both high quality works regardless of genre

Both female MC can see/hear things that shouldn't be seen/heard. They try to block this information although sometimes they do make use of it. <>Mieruko-chan is more comedy and horror, Mousou Telepathy is more romcom.

Two young people who can see supernatural beings without a physical body. The monsters are grotesque and have no fixed form. <> Mieruko-chan: Miko sees them but doesn't do anything about it (the ghosts don't kill people), Honomieru Shounen: Iori sees them but is reluctant to take them out, though he eventually does it (the ghosts are able to kill people)

Both manga have the same premise, that is a supernatural genre that focuses on solving conflict in each arc while slowly revealing more information or mysteries about characters' past live, personality, goal, etc. Also both are comedic.

They have the same aesthetic, the same creepy detailed drawings of ghosts. The MC is also a girl who can see ghosts. Mieruko-chan tends to lean on the Comedy side, but Yajin is a bit more serious. Still has a couple of gags though.

Both mangas portray the daily life of girls who possess the ability to see the supernatural and are tormented by these otherworldly beings.

Both stories follow teenage girls who can see ghosts Both are dark comedies Both have very expressive art, and horrific portrayals of the supernatural
reportRecommended by Larcus
The everyday lives of genuine, wholesome teenagers reluctantly involved in unearthly occurrences. Both can be very funny and will tastefully pull at your heartstrings every now and then.

Comedies that are about girls who can see ghosts others can't and how this inconveniences her.

'Mireuko-chan' and 'Furyou Taimashi Reina' both have female protagonists who can see spirits, but each deal with them differently. While Miko is fearful of them and has allies to save her, Reina is a powerful fearless psychic who's misunderstood for her abusive actions as bullying. Not to be misenterpreted as gag only, Reina's story has a variety of supernatural occurrences, with dramatic plots and mystery that affect her friends, and her own past. As for Miko's life, her story is sophisticated in its own right, with the overall mystery of the world of spirits, her friend's abilities, including hers, and the danger around them.

Both series feature lead characters who can see spirits, who really don't want to see spirits, and don't know why they have this ability. Both have comedy, especially toward the beginning, but as the overarching plot is revealed, it gets darker. Mieruko-chan is a little ecchier, and xxxHOLiC has a greater ratio of "good" spirits to "bad".

There are differences, with OPM focusing more on action and Mieruko-chan focusing on horror, but both use the same kind of humor involving misunderstandings that quickly spiral out of control. The two manga also subvert expectations of typical tropes in fiction by depicting events that are a little closer to reality.
reportRecommended by Aure0lin
Both manga's deal with Japanese folklore and character interactions with the occult.

They are both about characters who can see ghosts who have friends that can't. They are very different as It's the work of the Ghost is mostly a RomCom and the ghost mostly just pulls pranks on the characters; but the ghosts in Mieruko-chan are very much malicious and their designs accentuate that as well. There is quite a bit of comedy in Mieruko-chan but it is more dark humor.

I can't say too much without delving into spoilers for Kuro, but they have similar plots. However, Mieruko-chan is a lot more focused on comedy, which Kuro doesn't use often.

'Mireuko-chan' and 'Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai' both have female protagonists who can see spirits, but each deal with them differently. While highschooler Miko is fearful of them and has allies to save her, kindergartener Kaya is a powerful fearless psychic who's misunderstood, but has the support of one of her teachers, and a now occult writer who she saved. Both sophisticated stories have a unique charm of trust and friendship with a mystery to the menacing spirits in a world where their lives is surrounded by frequent danger. There's also a mystery of psychic power to several characters in both stories.
