The Dengeki Bunko 30th Summer Festival Online 2023 event announced a second season for the Sabikui Bisco television anime on Sunday, revealing an illustration by animation studio OZ (pictured) to celebrate the announcement. The first anime season aired in 12 episodes in Winter 2022. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with English subtitles and dubbed it in multiple languages. The anime adapts Shinji Cobkubo's action fantasy light novel which he initially submitted for the 24th Dengeki Taisho in 2017 and won the Silver Prize. Dengeki Bunko began printing the adventure fantasy light novel with illustrations by Akagishi K and mocha in March 2018. Kadokawa published the eighth volume in January 2022 and will release the ninth volume on August 10. Yuusuke Takahashi drew a manga adaptation in Manga UP! web magazine from April 2019 to March 2021. Sou Natsuki began serializing a second part in the same magazine in December 2021. Square Enix shipped the third volume of part two on December 7. Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in May 2021. The fifth volume will go on sale on July 18. Sabikui Bisco placed first under the Light Novel and New Work category in the 2019 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings. Synopsis An apocalyptic event has ravaged Japan, leaving nothing but endless sandy plains behind, and a strange rusting disease terrorizes the remnants of civilization. According to the government, the horrific state of the new world is the result of mushroom spores being spread by the likes of Bisco Akaboshi, labeled the "Man-Eating Mushroom." But Bisco would beg to differ. In reality, he is a "Mushroom Protector," determined to uncover the legendary "Sabikui" mushroom—said to be the ultimate cure for the rusting disease. Joining him on his quest are his giant crab Akutagawa and the kind doctor Milo Nekoyanagi, who is actively searching for a rust poisoning treatment for his sick sister. Despite the prejudice aimed toward him by the common folk, Bisco refuses to give up on his quest to purify the rotting world. i guess it was profitable for them because i feel like the ending of season 1 is conclusive enough |

Dude this has to be a joke. What we already had was just passable enough. There's literally nothing new they could write after that ending but somehow and someway it became a possibility. |

Great news. Even though the first season felt really conclusive, I really liked that very unique series, especially relationship between Bisco and Milo. Looking forward to see what is next. |

There are 8 volumes of the novels out so far and season 1 only covered the first, so there seems to be a ton that they could write after it. |

I wasn't expecting that... D: Does that mean we get to see the shark animated ? Please animate the shark. And probably spend the budget of 2 episodes for 2 min of animation lmao |

WHAAAT! W00t I didn't expect a second season to this one! It felt like the story wrapped itself up, I loved how it was so over the top with flying whales and mushrooms the size of buildings sprouting up everywhere and the giant crabbb. The opener was absolute fire. Really cool looking show with an awesome villain who wouldn't die... although it was weirdly depressing and overly serious at times. I'm almost worried about a 2nd season, that they'll just ruin a good thing. |

Me : Seeing all these series getting sequels one after another ... Me again : Still waiting for a sequel announcement for : DxD series , Full Metal Panic & Yona of the Dawn , 86 .. etc Studios in Japan : Let's make sequels for anything other than these great series and as for the new ones , let us make those that are based on Colores ( if you know what I mean ) . The industry is going down .. |
For your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And honour your parents. If one or both of them reach old age in your care, never say to them ˹even˺ ‘ugh,’ nor yell at them. Rather, address them respectfully. And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.” (Holy Quran 17:23-24). |

Kintah said: Lol, do you think LN SHOULD get an adaptation if it sells well? Holy simplicity. If LN sells too well, then the producers may simply decide that it doesn't need to be promoted in the form of a new anime. Especially when the last season had a very controversial reception even among the most ardent fans. For example, Mahouka is one of the main flagships of Dengeki Bunko, but there was a huge difference between the first season and the next, as the producers were not sure that LN needed a separate burst. Again, you just don't understand how the industry works.RobertBobert said: You do know that Index is one of dengeki bunko's all time best sellers? @RED-clover12 Agreed! I liked where the end of it left off, it let everything end on a (semi-)pleasant note. It'll still be interesting seeing what they do for the 2nd season though |
