Episode 9 had more action. I guess people who prefers action in their anime would prefer episode 9 over episode 8. The action was just better in it in my opinion.

Himeno was a cool character no doubt, but it wasn’t a powerful death to me, there have been deaths way more impactful in other shows. We didn’t know that much about her other than she lost all of her partners and wanted to be with Aki. The show didn’t really highlight her character until episode 5 or 6 (I believe) so I didn’t get hit hard by it because it wasn’t that much of an attachment to begin with. Episode 9 was a little better because it gave us a glimpse into Makima’s abilities, since she’s arguably the most enigmatic character and her mysteriousness is what makes her interesting. Also that fight between Denji and the Blade guy was a dope way to start the episode, Kobeni’s sudden change was another WTF moment (in a good way).

True, we don’t want him to be an Mc that starts off as overpowered or strong from the start. That would be boring.

Totally agree! The fight scene was pretty good! Also Makimas ability are insane. But it hit me a bit when himeno died. Felt bad she kept losing her partners and at the end she didn’t lose a partner but the partner lost her.

I'm trying to understand why people like something more than something else.

maybe it's because I actually try to write stuff, but I genuinely care about understanding why people like or dislike something.

or why my opinion is different from the public.

I am of the belief that If I don't understand why others disagree with me, I am in the wrong for sure.

Episode 9 revealed a taste of Makima's powers and it definitely bought the shock factor. She has been such a mysterious character.
So it's nice to see her wreck some havoc on those goons. She is a force to be wreck-en with. No pun intended haha. Force manipulation is such a brutal way to die. Makima means business.

Episode 8 had more emotional feels with Himeno's death though. She was such a good friend and partner to Aki. She only wanted him to live and cry for her.
Her death showed the risks and stakes that the public safety devil hunter org has to go through on a daily basis. It is not all rainbows and sunshine.

It's hard to say which is better.

If Episode 8 is good cause of the dramatic turn of Events, Episode 9 surely is aswell, cause it continues/concludes things that made Ep 8 good. Simple as that.

I liked episode 9 better. For one thing I think Himenos death hit harder because it’s shown from a different perspective. Also Makima , I remember this scene from the manga and it did not disappoint and finally Kobeni really stole the show in episode 9. Definitely a great episode

Feel like they actually killing the main action scenes with CGI and that is where I feel bad. Demons in CGI? Ok but why Chainsaw and Katana as CGI? Bad decision in my thoughts

himeno wasn't built up enough for me to care when she died

apart from the amazing action in ep9, they showed us 2 powers that makima has, maybe 3... we saw that girl get her crazy on as well, i loved those things infinitely more than a semi-built up character's death

Without comparing the content, imo the direction in ep 8 was one of the best this season while for ep 9 it was not the case.

I think they're the same level but personally I think episode 9 hasld things more important than himeno dying. seeing makima survive the gun shot to the head and her powers without knowing what devil contract she has is I think more important. it gives you a whole new view of makima, himeno we only saw for like 5 episodes she wasn't like a big main character
