18 yo, I started with Death Note as well and made an account after finishing that, the first arc and the coda of Death Note was amazing although as a whole series it is really flawed. Still a classic.

Just started watching last year because I was bored asf due to the pandemic. Didn't really care for anime before then, I was a major film snob who thought all anime is cringe shit for weebs lol. Now though after watching Eva, Berserk, Monogatari, and all my other favorites, anime/manga is now one of my favorite mediums. Its between anime and live action as my all time favorite. I'm 20 btw

I honestly don’t really remember the first time I watched an anime. I do remember that by middle school it was a regular part of my life. I watched an unhealthy amount of Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon, and DBZ as well as numerous others throughout High School. It's a miracle I even got into college with all the Anime I was binging instead of studying. I haven’t really bothered to include the vast majority of these on my list because frankly I can only vaguely recall them, but I estimate I would probably be in the 50+ day club if I did.

I only recently got back into things, so I guess I’m both a new and an old school Weeb.

I really started when I was 12. Before that, my parents would tell me I should not watch those violent Chinese drawings (except for the few my mother watched as a kid lol) but getting into high school made me meet more people who liked shows like Naruto and that was the anime that started it all for me.
Playing Pokemon before that played a part in that but my aunt's weeb husband was the biggest influence, he is cool and my family liked him a lot so he kinda helped my parents understand that I would not turn into a some sort of violent kid for watching anime lol.

I am 26 now and I am watching Naruto again and it has been really nostalgic and the fact that I am enjoying it a lot has felt nice because it means that after all these years I am still able to enjoy my first anime.

I was introduced to anime and weeb culture when Miiverse (rip) was still a thing on the Wii U. I was probably 14 at the time. I started reading manga before watching anime tho. I didn't get into anime until about a year after

I watched Pokemon on VHS tape with my sisters when I was 4. (1999)

Then one of them showed me Cardcaptor Sakura and Fruits Basket when I was 7. (2002)

Then I found .hack//Sign, Bleach, Ranma 1/2, and Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars on YouTube when I was 12. (2007)

Then I saw a clip of Kuroinu (hentai) on a porn site when I was 13. (2008)

Then I watched my first ecchi, Kanokon, when I was 15. (2010)

Then I watched Boku no Pico when I was 18. (2013)

Then I watched Evangelion when I was 19. (2014)

Finally, I made a MAL account when I was 21. (2016)

I started at 12, my first anime was Elfen lied.
How I got into anime: my father that had never watched anime before, one day downloaded some random anime app on his tablet and decided to watch something, and ended up watching Elfen Lied, and my father knew that when I was young I used to like violent stuff a lot, so after watching it my father recommended it to me.

I started when I was 21 (2012). Basically, I was just browsing through Netflix one day and I saw the thumbnail for Fullmetal Alchemist (2003). I remembered that I had played and really liked the demo for a PS2 FMA game on a PS Magazine CD a friend had lent me way back in the day, so I ended up checking the series out on a whim. Got super hooked on it and, uh, here I am 10 years later. 31 years old now, still loving anime and with no intention of quitting it any time soon.

I use to watch Pokemon and Doraemon as a kid. Initially I didn't knew the different between Anime and Cartoon.

I first try to watch Your Name in 2017 but the boobs press scene at the start of the movie frick me out. I didn't watch that movie back then.

Then In 2019 I accidentally watch the first episode of Death Note in Facebook. Which ultimately made me an Anime fan.

I was 35 when I was scrolling through Netflix and Fate/Stay Night UBW caught my attention. It was rated a full five stars and I didn't know what it was. I was bored, so I figured "what the hell." Life hasn't been the same ever since. To be fair, I had watched some anime in the past (I watched Evangelion when i was 19 or 20 and it blew my mind).

I start watching anime for around 3 times lol
First is my childhood (2012/2014) for shows like Doraemon, Case closed, etc (tbh I read the manga more than its adaptation)
Second is around 2017/2018: with random Shinkai Makoto or Hayao Miyazaki movies then stopped
Third is 2020 until now: with random seasonal, then I discovered more and more anime that suits my taste through social media, friends, and mal and here I am
10 years since my first anime but I'm still pretty new

I started at around 4 years old. Watching anime daily on tv. Didn't know what anime was back then, but I have watched around 30 anime as a child. I really got into anime when I was 15. My best friend watched a lot of anime, and he introduced me to series like Death Note and Attack on Titan, from that point on I've been watching anime regularly.

I started watching Dragon Ball Z and Yugiho on 4Kids every Saturday morning and when I was 6 or 7, and then I was probably 8 my brother and I would watch Dragon Ball GT and Naruot on Toonami every Saturday evening.

I stopped watching anime for a while until I was about 16, and Akame Ga Kill and Parasyte on Toonami which got back into watching anime again.

Like many, my friend suggested me to watch Death Note which can be considered my first anime other than the childhood ones. Although I loved the show at that time it wasn't nearly enough to impress me to dwelve deeper into this medium.
Then I watched this AMV of one my favourite songs, Little Do You Know and saw the movie out of curiosity. I loved it so much that I even read it's manga, which was my very first.
After that I stumbled upon Attack on Titan which totally changed my views on what anime as a medium is capable of and I began to consume more and more anime and even created this account on MAL.

Not sure about the age, however I can't consider Death Note my introduction to anime because I watched nothing else after finishin it. I took it pretty badly.

Bleach is what really got me involved. At that time it was pretty fresh, nowdays I wanna run the heck away from it.

I watch animes since I was a baby. It means when I first watched them, I didn't knew they were anime.

So basically I watched everything that was broadcasted on SBT, Globo, Bandeirantes, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Disney Channel. Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball, Captain Tsubasa, Tokyo Mew Mew, Cardcaptor Sakura, Beyblade, Digimon, Hamtaro, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Sonic, Blue Dragon, Naruto, Zatch Bell, Shaman King...

Technically I started around 10 years old I think with Pokémon in the late 90s and then with Ranma 1/2, inuyasha, Naruto, chobits and such in my teens in the early 2000s. But I wasn't watching as much anime until at least 2013ish when I was 26 and that's when I really started going on my anime binge. Before then I probably only watched about 20-50 anime series and I mainly played video games.

Around of age 8-9 my buddy from primary school recommended to me to watch Bleach and shown me where I can watch it with polish subs, I count Bleach as my first anime instead of Yugioh/Pokemon/Naruto which were at Tv, cause back than I thought that anime is a polish cartoon as all of them were dubbed x). Till today I do watch anime in some extent + my first anime is the only title I can call myself a fan.

around 14 or so, in 1996, i discovered SDF MACROSS, by way of it's mid-80's "ROBOTECH" Western localization.

MACROSS, and it's VF-1 "Valkyrie" Variable Fighter mecha indeed started the Anime ball rolling for me,
and, unlike many of my generation and older of Anime fans, i was hardly reflexively repulsed out of hand
by the Moe boom of the onset of the 21st century. quite to the contrary, i saw much to adore in it, in it's way, indeed every bit as much so
as the 80's/90's Mecha series besides ROBOTECH/MACROSS that had fired my Anime passions in the first place.

it's all wonderful, and here i am 20+ years on, clinging to it all as tightly as ever...

Around November of 2020. My ex introduced me to 'Cagaster of an Insect Cage' ... and it went from there honestly.

I made fun of weebs mostly because of the fandom when I was younger... Well look at me now. lmfao. Even though I don't have anything Anime/Manga related stuff at home, I would consider myself a weeb.

I am 24 now.

I didn't start watching it because it started to become popular with the mainstream, I started because I wanted something else to watch. Have barely touched anything Hollywood since then.

Earliest anime I seen was an old VHS tape of Robotech in the early 1990s when I was 6-7 years old. From there, seen it on and off growing up. Then around 2002ish during the original Toonami's run here in the states, I became seriously committed to seeing anime as a personal hobby.

Started with the usual suspects like Naruto as a kid. My first real anime were Haruhi and Kodomo no Jikan when i was 11 or 12.
"I thought anime was cringe then only started watching when it became mainstream" seems to be a pretty common sentiment with the community nowadays. I hate it.

I dunno what age but I bet it was around 5-7 years old. I used to have anime movies like Hakujaden as DVDs (/CDs) and on television, there used to be some animes that were aired like Dragon Ball, Cowboy Bepop, the studio Ghibli movies, etc.

My cousin introduced me to Naruto (and probably some other animes I don't remember at all).

I didn't know that those were Japanse Animations. I just wanted entertainment and I didn't care from where.

I later gained greater interest in animes when I was around 12-13 years old. I had another cousin who had a larger collection of animes. So I watched them at his place and on Pendrive for my laptop.

From there, things took off and here I am...with lots of animes on hold and completed. I wish to stick around animes for longer and perhaps till the end.

I don't know what was my first anime. Can't trust a 7 year old child's memory. LMAO

I don't recall too many of the particulars of the single VHS volume I had of it. But do recall that there were two episodes on it and they were of the Macross episodes that Harmony Gold hacked up to form the 80s series. At least doing a quick search, it looks like a number of the FHE releases of Robotech had two episodes per tape on them, so it was likely one of those volumes I had considering the time period when I seen it.

I was in Elementary School, but I'm not entirely sure how old I was. It was under 10, because I remember being 10 when Pokemon came out and thinking it was cool that I was the same age that you'd be to be able to go out on your Pokemon Journey. But before then, I watched Toonami on Cartnoon Network which included: Robotech, Sailor Moon, and Dragon Ball Z.

Then by Middle School I was doing Adult Swim which included stuff like Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop.

I was about 5 or 6. I stayed up all night watching cartoon network when i saw Inuyasha for the first time. Watching cartoon network showed me a lot of anime that stuck with me.

I was 8 when i saw Yugioh the first time, which was the first anime i ever got super into and made a point to watch every week. It mostly made me watch whatever shonen was on Cartoon Network.

19 was when i watched my first more obscure anime that made me want to check out more in the medium. That being Strawberry Marshmallow.

I was watching funny videos on YouTube. When this "Anime Funny Moments" video appeared in the recommended stuff, I clicked on it and then searched for the name of the anime in that video. The name was Ueno-san wa Bukiyou, and after watching it, I saw another anime there (on YouTube). I think it was Senko-san. Then I found an anime site where there was a lot to watch, and that's how I started watching anime.

That happened in December 2019.
