| I won't dispute the fact that AniTrenz is not the best metric to judge the success or lack thereof of a show, but AoT fans are in denial if they don't think there has been a tangible drop in hype between S4P1 and S4P2. This isn't some phenomenon limited to any one exclusive site, it's across the board. AoT peaked lower this season on IMDB's popular shows even at the height of its popularity during the first 6 episodes. On reddit, none of the S4P2 episodes have come close to matching the most popular episodes from last season in terms of engagement. The big hyped up episode from this season, the one that was supposed to dethrone Hero everywhere and "break the internet", got less upvotes than 6 episodes from part 1. On twitter the show hasn't been trending as high as it did every single week last year. On anilist, S4P1's rating peaked at 1 before dropping, S4P2 never even got to top 5 (hell, I'm not even sure it got to top 10!). Lastly, here's the google trends for Attack on Titan and Shingeki no Kyojin if you think every single one of the sites I listed are just insular bubbles.  Can you take a wild guess as to what that peak at april 4-10, right before the decline in popularity represents? The next peak after that is the start of S4P2, which loses out handily in comparison to its S4P1 equivalent. Like, yeah, it's still a very popular show, I don't think anyone's denying that. But that sheer momentum from S3P2 to the end of S4P1, trending ever upwards? Gone. It's all dowhill from here. And y'all know damn well why that is, even if some will perform olympics level mental gymnastics to deny it. A "vocal minority" doesn't account for how much the excitement surrounding the series has slowed down. |
