Why are there so many "powerful" betas and simps in anime?

Male heroes and villains love boasting their power and can beat 95% of the population but they completely change into a scared simp and beta male when a woman approaches them, even when she clearly want them to be romantic and it gets worse when they freak out over the women's bare skin and would gladly become their dog.

It completely ruins it because you get the perception that they're alphas and chads due to their tremendous power and how they fight without hesitancy. Take a look at 90s Hollywood action flicks, MC saving the woman, develops relationship and happily ever after. That's how it should be.

Seriously, is anyone tired of this crap?

Madara comes to mind while reading this but I don't think he'll chicken out when fighting a kunoichi, I need some examples for what you are talking about.

That's the "right" balance between power fantasy (wish fulfillment) and being socially awkward (for an easier self inserting).

Not a good trope. If you're tired of it, I recommend watching less action+adventure+fantasy anime and more of other genres.

If self-inserting isn't such a big part of otaku/anime culture, I'd imagine anime wouldn't have as many fans as they do now. But yeah, it is tiring to witness nevertheless. (Also, thought this post was satire because who actually takes alpha/beta seriously?)

Please don't describe people or characters with words like 'alpha' or 'beta', it's stupid.

Bad writing is predominant in anime. Also they have to make them relatable for the anime fans.

According to my sociogenetic archetypicalogical bioengineering dictionary, Omega males care more about those details than an average Sigma male. Omega males could sniff out pheromones of a typical alpha or beta male from miles away. So you're probably right, they're stronger and more sensitive than Sigma males in that aspect.

I guess because they want to maybe make the character relatable to those types of dudes? not really sure since I never really liked that trope

Most weebs are,for lack of better terms, betas and simps so it makes sense to create self-insert protagonists with those traits lmao.
Take care of yourself

Thing is those things worked, because of the times. Doing that in modern times and going as far as doing it anime, will bring about nothing but awkward dislike towards the males at least and face palm levels of cringe at worse.

The sad problems of people who take alpha/beta memes seriously and can't see the world in any other light anymore.
Normal people have more nuanced views of characters and therefore avoid this superficial 'issue' altogether.

FYI the entire alpha/beta dichotomy is based on one single study conducted on another species (wolves) and the main guy who conducted that study later admitted to making mistakes and debunked his own theory of alpha/beta males amongst wolves. Everything since then has been based on this one study which debunked itself. So the really interesting thing we got to learn about human behaviour from this is not about alpha/beta BS but about how misinformation can spread and be taken seriously just because it's a good meme. Humans aren't alpha or beta, they're just stupid.

ye that's why I'm still waiting on twgok remake, new season, new spin off or new movie whatever.

they go for the exaggerated ones as always so if it's too much chad then it's probably non vanilla.

there were a few anime that got like totally empty cliffhanger styles that purely serves to sell the manga so I'm really picky when choosing a harem / ecchi shows lol

recent show i've finished was totally like this.

Life imitates art and art imitates life. Perhaps this is by design. Perhaps things are already this way or heading this way. That could explain why the trope is so common.

Just let them live out the fantasy that they will never achieve in real life.

I don't even know what you mean by making this point, but the thing I got is that you are complaining about male standards. You probably need to blame the audience for it even though I don't think you are necessarily doing better.

And well I am not even going to remark on how you think women behave and their wishes in men.

I thought this is the reason so many of us here prefer anime and we don't care for very many Hollywood movies. Then again, everything was more alpha and manly in the 90s and earlier. Almost everything at least. Go watch Fist of the North star if you want your alpha male or even Berserk.

A psychologist I usually listen to says it's all about hierarchy and what place we are on this hierarchy. I don't think that necessarily means alpha/beta though since as you said, that was disproven by the same guy who once proved it.

I much prefer characters with at least some cliché level of depth rather than something as shallow as the concepts of alpha or sigma.
That is not to say I hate everything that's not prude, wimpy and alike, it's just that I dislike a complete wimp as much as a complete chad.

They are simply presenting the optimal man that all males should strive to be. One who will fight and work and struggle without end, but whose infinite power is drained in the presence of a woman. How do you improve upon that?
