| Pretty fun episode, but I'm disappointed the giant cockroach didn't come into it more. The cactus seemed to be protecting it by preventing Gene from shooting it, so I was expecting something. I think the cactus bastard might be based on (or ripped of from) the Grogs from the short story "The Handicapped" by Larry Niven. Like the cactus, they are powerful psychics who compel other creatures to cater to their needs as their own bodies are incapable of locomotion. They're not as annoying, though. |

| Wait, did the narrator say Sith when he mentioned the alien races? That Cactus thing looks like a demonic fusion of Dugtrio from Pokémon and Togemon from Digimon. So Gene did get to go on a date with the woman from the race office after all (dressed as Spike Spiegel no less haha). I like how it's almost stand alone but they don't forget about non-main characters from the previous episodes. Aisha was so cute when she was singing whilst hunting the cockroach. |

Pretty sure we only got humans so far, so it's surprising to see some aliens as well. I love how Melfina was just stomping the cactus non-stop XD The funniest part is when Suzuka tries to give them a job, yet gets kicked out just like Aisha!! |

| Wow, I loved this episode. This is one I remember from when Outlaw Star was on Toonami. This was such a weird plot that makes the world of Outlaw Star seem a lot bigger and odder. The mind-controlling plant reminded me of something from Metamorphosis Alpha or Gamma World. I liked how all the threads came together in the end. |

| I'm gonna say this right now, this episode is by far the most silliest and yet funniest things I've seen in a filler episode of Outlaw Star, period. I mean I really wasn't expecting a sentient cactus to be evil and just cause chaos in the setting that Gene and co are in. XD Just it's probably the most random thing and yet I'm all for it here. The best line hands down has to go to Gene easily when confronting said evil sentient cactus is literally: "You Cactus Bastard!" as if it was a normal thing to say to an evil pot plant running an ice cream van no less or the equivalent of that, and being able to paralyse people apart from Melafina with sound waves and had illusions of grandeur about it. XD It was a funny episode what can I say? From Gene and Jim just chucking out Aisha out the door when she found the job in the sewers to literally the whole idea of the cactus was literally protecting the bug is nothing short of hilarious. I did like how each of the group split up and did their own thing, Aisha in the sewers looking for the monster she's supposed to deal with, Jim and Melafina essentially investigating the lost cargo as well as the giant bug that's roaming around and Gene essentially going out on a date with surprisingly enough the promoter of the race the Outlaw Star just went on and dressed like Spike Spiegel apparently. It's silly but awesome at the same time that Melafina is the one to finish off the evil cactus which I thought was pretty neat. I mean what else can I say? It's an episode about an evil cactus that makes people eat mediocre tasting ice cream and controls people with telepathy and stuns them with sound waves alike. It's a goofy episode but a really damn funny one at that. |
