directing, ost placement, animation+art quality, pacing, literally everything was top tier

10/10 easily

I'm calling it rn, MAPPA and other studios are putting a ton of resources into the next few episodes

This episode felt really good and everything was quite more fluid than some of the previous episodes. I'm really hyped for what's next.

That post credit scene just topped it off, u already know next episode is going to be LIT.

Can we skip this weak real quick?

This season is absolutely fantastic so far but the 16 episode length is making me very worried about how they'll wrap up the story with presumably 9-10 episodes left for the entirety of the final arc

Great episode.

Loving how they are characterizing the new cast, Falco and Gabi are my favorites so far.

The grandpa Jaegar scene was harsh damn. I assume Eren realized who he was talking too after he heard the name?

The waiter montage was great, the festival montage was my favorite though, the kids all excited about their first festival and Reiner needing to pay was funny but also kinda sad at the same time because of the situation.
Eren finally confronts Reiners, very curious how things are going to play out now.

its allready leaked that this 16 episodes will not cover the whole manga, probably just till chapter 122/123 like in the trailer. And then we will get a second part or movies
Attack on Titan ended with chapter 123 and 130/131 is the epilogue

The season only has a 16 episode run, I would hope that Attack on Titan: The Final Season covers the last arc that's in the manga

If you dont wanna belive the leakers then belive the director of the series, he said they still dont know the ending, this was on november 27th on the MAPPA showcase event.

At that point in time ep 16 was already in production.

Ah, that makes sense. Tbh having read the manga I think a movie (or two) would be a better route to go. The way the concluding arc is structured is much better suited for one piece of media rather than multiple episodes.

If that's the case, then it's probably a good thing that they outsourced the episode to focus on the next few episodes because they're gonna need the time and their A team.

I hope the final arc is a movie. If it's profit that they're worried about, considering how well Demon Slayer did, they might be willing to put the budget into a movie

Honestly a good episode especially with the intro of the Tybur family. My favourite part of this episode is probably when Eren meets his grandfather as I thought that was a cool thing. I also like the foreshadowing with the baseball gloves and ball Eren has with him. And the way they set up the next episode is great with the Marley arc drawing to and end with the massive battle about to take place

Honestly the episode was great especially with all the amazing parts that happended. Beginning with the intro of Willy Tybur and his family to Eren meeting his grandfather. I feel like when Eren met his grandfather it was an amazing scene especially since the watcher knows how the 2 are related. I also liked the ending when Reiner and Eren finally come face to face setting up the epic battle that is about to take place as the Marley arc draws to a close

haha cg was used multiple times for minor things but 99.9% of people will never notice because it was implemented flawlessly.

same thing with rotoscoping

note: half the episode was outsourced not completely tho

Best episode by far. Can't really see people complaining about the pacing in here, and hopefully it stays like this until the end. The production was on point and I honestly believe this was the best directed episode so far, not to mention the screenwriting that never disappoints. I almost made my score go up to a 10, but I honestly believe that score will come naturally really soon.

Well, speaking of soon, the wait for the 5th episode will be terrible considering it will only air in 2 weeks.

1- What are you even talking about, never said there wasn't any ep adapted 1:1 since season 1, just that none that was adapted faithfully like this since season 1 (meaning the setup; slow paced exposition, minor additions and overall atmospheric without really skipping a single thing, overall very solid slow-burner instead of the fast pacing we got ever since Season 2 with rare exceptions... which, on themselves, were trimmed and "quick action" focused overall).

3- And no, those were fine as is, it was a good cut and I will just link you a 12+ paragraphs long reply in which I analyzed them in the previous ep's thread compared to the content to be covered soon and why everything was adapted considerably very well without losing anything substantial (though someone already made a post detailing it even better than myself some days ago), if you want to keep going on that point.

Fast pacing is what we had in episode 2 and 3. extremely fast. no time to breath and feel the characters. I dont recall that in past seasons. only episode 8 and 9 of season 3 part 2 had something similar. you keep using that as an example but thats a lie. this is the first time we had people making critics about fast pacing.

and I have to disagree with you about the cut content. you didnt mention the ackerman subplot cut which is important for chapter 112
zeke screentime has been reduced to nothing. again another "little scene" involing him was cut in this episode. this is no good.

This season is making Reiner look like the main character. In the manga Zeke had more appearances and dialogue. This is bad considering that the real main characters of this season are Eren and Zeke.

What are the chances that this exchange between Eren and Reimer ends peacefully? Unlikely

The ultimate calm before the storm episode. Willy Tybur along with his family has entered the fray. The festival has come with a worldwide gathering of emissaries whom despite the welcoming look of Marley are still at each others throats. We see a few important dignitaries at that party, one in particular who will come up later on. Falco is finally pulling ahead of Gabi in their training so talk of him being the next armor isn't so funny anymore, he might actually accomplish it. Funny how Gabi didn't understand the intention of what he said about how he's doing it all for her. Lots of moments this episode that were like that. Just small wholesome moments with the two warrior units new and old. Willy about to make his big speech, declaration, to the world. With Falco leading Reiner down to meet Eren at the end of the episode Gabi is right about things soon to change.

Stuff dont like
-they fucked up eren design so much
-bad directing: when magath and willy talks at stage and magath sits backwards and I was like why is he sitting like that as like he wants no one to sees him talks with willy in the middle of an empty space. found this very stupid and check the manga and they talk normal in that and not just this characters replying others person either too slow or too fast you can clearly see director dont understand the manga

So they finally remembered they can cut the ED to fit more stuff in the episode, hope they do this a lot more often in the future. The overall quality was top notch compared to the previous 3 episodes.

We finally get to see black people in aot.

I think they've done a good job of showing Reiner trying his hardest to appreciate the good things left in his life.

Had no problem with this episode quality- or plotwise. I probably don't remember manga very well, but it seems there were some scenes in the episode that weren't there in the manga or were modified but this didn't particularly bother me. I really liked the way they handled the reception and final scenes after the ending. Looks very promising to me.
It seems there was some new music too.

If the rest of the episodes are at least as good as this one, maybe there's still a chance to have a great season.
