I'm honestly baffled that there isn't a Soul Calibur anime

Right? If there's going to be an anime of Shenmue then there should be an anime of Soul Calibur. Soul Calibur is like the most anime fighting game I've ever seen. Well, there's also Dead or Alive but that game is literally just Waifus: The Fighting game

My point exactly. I was looking at a bunch of cute girls in skirts with technicolor hair and swords, on various anime and manga covers, and I couldn't help hearing Sophitia's weapon drill in my head. I'm like "how the hell is this not a thing".

Well, there's also Dead or Alive but that game is literally just Waifus: The Fighting game

Yeah, if I ever wanted to use a fighting game as an excuse for jiggle physics, I wouldn't screw around and would just go straight to Battle Raper. DoA is pretty much just the tame mainstream version thereof, so I have as much interest in it as I do in eating Wonderbread instead of my usual Stone-Ground Wheat or 12 Grain or the occasional Marble Rye. (Damn now I just want to sit here and list all my favorite flavors of bread....)

I made a thread once asking why so many fighting games don't get their own anime.

Need Ivy Valentine's ass in 2D.

Haven't played the game but it doesn't seem like something I'd be hyped about.

Is Soul Caliber the game that has Link on its Nintendo GameCube box art?

Yup that was soul calibur 2. It's series tradition to feature the guest characters prominently in the cover.

Not familiar with Soul Calibar but can just imagine Tekken being made into an anime , in each game every character follows indivisual stories which is many a times interwined with each other , that would make a wierd watch order

I could see it working. Soulcalibur doesn't really have a set "main character" and quite a few of the cast could potentially fill that role. So you'd either end up with a show focusing solely on one character or group of characters or switching around between multiple groups. Either way, it'd be a long fucking show.

I think that would be true for most of the fighting games

I for one vastly prefer shows that have an ensemble cast rather than one or two main characters. Game of Thrones is one of the more obvious examples, along with the 90s Star Trek shows.

I don't know if you're trying to be elitist about the fact that the first game was called Soul Edge or something. On the assumption that you're legitimately unaware of what I'm talking about, I will inform you of something that most people know in this day and age - Soul Edge, Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur 2, Soul Calibur 3, Soul Calibur 4, Soul Calibur 5, and Soul Calibur 6 (assuming there aren't any others I don't know about) are a series of video games that are quiet popular. And I am baffled that an anime adaptation of the series does not seem to exist.

Sorry. I wasn’t trying to be an elitist, I was genuinely misinformed. Thanks for the information.

Me too. A lot of my favourite shows have some pretty big casts with large webs of connections. Makes for some really interesting storytelling. Never been that invested in Game of Thrones, but Star Trek is a good example.

I'm a little confused as to how the specific word "misinformed" applies here. If this is just a language-barrier issue or the like, feel free to ignore me, but I'm always happy to hear further explanation of an intriguingly out-of-place turn of phrase.

Particularly if you treat all the shows, or at least DS9 and TNG, as a shared universe. They aren't very well written as such; only a few episodes and a couple of characters actually overlap, but it would be entirely possible to redesign them in such a way that late TNG fully overlaps with DS9, and late DS9 fully overlaps with Voyager (after the lost ship reestablishes radio contact with Starfleet). The resulting changes would make me enjoy the shows even more than I do, which rather proves my point.

Call me a heretic but I think Soul Calibur is better suited for a live action adaptation, the rivalries and plotlines contained in the game remind me of something that I would expect while watching the WWE rather than Jojo

I edited your comment to highlight the idea that you picked one random example each of what a medium contains, as if that proves anything. I probably could have come up with better examples if I put a few hours into thinking about it, but that's hardly the point.

Soul Calibur would be an excellent anime series... Has a the plot and enough lore justify at least 70-90 episodes (if we start from Soul Edge to Soul Calibur 4...)

Also there's a lot of games that would become awesome series, like Nier: Automata, Fire Emblem, The Legend of Zelda, Golden Sun, among others...

There's tons of video games that would make for great anime. Soul Calibur wouldn't be at the top of my list. Tales of Xillia is one I'm more baffled by. How cool would an Okami anime be? One can only dream.

I just checked and was not really impressed , that artstyle seems weird and it was made more than 20 years ago and itsd rating is rather not impressive still might see it but I liked the overall strories of tekken 6 and 5 more

That's one. There's the 90s OVA and Blood Vengeance which is a movie from like 2011.

Neither are good (fighting games don't translate all that well) but both are serviceable. the OVA is kinda whack looking and doesn't really go anywhere but Blood Vengeance is essentially just an ingame cutscene at movie length.

Well, you can only imagine my shock, sorrow and disappointment.
there is supposedly a manga tho, must be just some promotional thing NAMCO did for the release of the first game on dreamcast https://myanimelist.net/manga/133859/Soulcalibur

Precisely, a Queen's Blade-like Soulcalibur anime would be beyond perfect and very hype to watch.

If Tekken and Street Fighter can get anime, why not Soulcalibur or Guilty Gear.
