So I'm a mad collector and maker of dolls. I've seen a few things that coincidentally have dolls as part of an episode plot and am usually a fan but Rozen Maiden, Angelic Layer and Another are really the only things I can think of with dolls as a main plot element. So gimme whatcha got. Single eps are fine as long as dolls are a focus but I would prefer entire shows. Manga also acceptable. I'll also take doll-like things like androids as long as they have doll attributes. |

If I remember correctly, the dolls in it are amorphous shapes which... Not really my thing for the most part. Thank you though. |

Episode 46 of GeGeGe no Kitarou (2018) concerns dolls. One of the MC's housemates in Kuragehime is an avid doll collector. |

One of my favorite series of the past few years and criminally underrated here. Episode 20 won my personal "best-episode-of-the-year" award for 2018. |

Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai Fantasia Doll I haven't seen either of them, but I have a friend whose also doll obsessed and watched both series so... yeah. I'd also recommend: Gugure! Kokkuri-san (MC claims to be a doll. Not really sure if it's what you're looking for, but it's funny!) |

I'll go back and check it out. |

Oh damn Choukadou Girl β is looking like a new favourite. I mostly collect and make in 1/6 scale so that's like, my favourite size. I've seen a couple clips from Frame Arms Girls when my housemate was watching it... The art style is uhh... Well I'll give it a go anyway. Ichigeki Sacchuu sounds hella cute so I'm definitely picking that up. |

Only one I've heard of other than Rozen Maiden is Super Doll Licca-chan. It's a magical girl show about dolls that come alive to protect the main character, and as far as I know it's an anime made to promote Licca, a brand of dolls that's pretty much the equivalent of Barbie over in Japan. |

+1 Ichigeki Sacchuu Hoihoi-san -- Only one episode but it's one of my go to's for a needed laugh. +1 I got ninja'd taking too long making this post :) Under "related": The Monogatari franchise features a doll (shikigami/familiar) named Ononoki Yotsugi and its maker Tadatsuru Teori. It's a long franchise worth watching anyway so those two characters would be a little bonus for you. They do get dedicated episodes and arcs although Tadatsuru not until near the end. Monogatari Updated Watching Guide Start here: Bakemonogatari --- Somewhat related if a sentient hand puppet would interest you: Gokujou Seitokai -- Totally over-the-top silliness but I have to say the hand puppet Pucchan stole the show. The conclusion was really cool. The OP/ED are addictive! |

That definitely gives me more of a reason to watch the Monogatari series though I have been meaning to for a long while. I love a lot of Shaft's other works, I just haven't had the time to get into it... I think I'll start it this weekend or next week though. Hand puppets deffs count! I'll add Gokujou Seitokai to the list! |

Couldn't find a vid that does Pucchan justice but here's that catchy OP that shows him interacting with all the characters: Aside from a couple of cringe-y episodes this turned out to be a nice little hidden gem for me. |

Here's the opening sequence of the first episode: The series streams at Crunchyroll: https://www.crunchyroll.com/thunderbolt-fantasy I recommend watching "episode 0" after watching the first episode. Episode 0 is about the production techniques involved, and you'll have a better appreciation of the talent of these guys in Taiwan after watching an episode. The puppets are incredibly beautiful and detailed. And the folks at PIRI just love blowing up the sets they build. |

Chiibi said: I collect and customize dolls too!! :D Which ones do you like? There is a 'scary doll arc' in Ghost Hunt (which is really just a good show in general) Also there is Princess Tutu with TWO doll characters and My Dear Marie OVA (another android girl show) Oh heck no way! I collect a variety. Barbie, Licca, Monster High, Jenny, sometimes Bratz, Action Man/G.I. Joe (mostly for their clothing and heads; their bodies mostly suck), and a whole bunch of random stuff I find around that I like the look of. I customise mostly MH and Barbie but I also make my own ball jointed dolls out of wood and resin. I was planning on watching Ghost Hunt so that works out perfectly. I've seen Princess Tutu and loved it but haven't heard of My Dear Marie so that's definitely going on the list. |

Do stuffed dolls count?: -Similar to Gokujou Seitokai which was already recommended, Karin has Boogie-kun. He's possessed by the spirit of a murderer. -Kobato has Ioryogi. -Gakuen Alice has Mr. Bear. He's hilarious and sweet, but never talks. He has a more important role in the manga. -Shakugan no Shana has a villain obsessed with his doll. I don't remember if she talks, but she definitely moves. -Umineko no Naku Koro ni, in the later chapters, has a stuffed animal doll come alive that plays an interesting role in the story. He's also quite loveable. -In Full Moon wo Sagashite, two shinigamis possess stuffed animal dolls (a cat and a rabbit) to use as their vessel sometimes. |

During fights she can also take over a mannequin (whose lips do move). The doll appears in the first arc and there are even two ways to view the content: 1) The first arc has been adapted into a movie; 2) You can watch the first six episodes of the TV series (1st arc). I recommend the movie because it has higher production values and if you enjoy it and are interested in more then you can pick up the series. However, I'd start from the beginning with episode one because the movie does cut out a few scenes and at least one important character that were extraneous to the movie plot (but are needed for later on in the series). Not a fan of the second type but these redo's of a specific arc or the beginning of a series are nice bonuses indeed. Something like Ghost in the Shell SAC works well because only about half the episodes are the main plot so it's easy to cut it down from there. |
