What unlikely voice actor/character pairs blew your mind when you first discovered who did the acting?

| I'm used to hearing Wataru Takagi in roles like Okuyasu from jojo, knuckle from HxH, bellamy from one piece and Caiman from dorohedoro so I was surprised when I heard him voice Garrod Ran from gundam x |

| To this day, I still can't believe Rukia wasn't voiced by Marina Inoue... I feel betrayed. Yuuichi Nakamura as Dwarf from Goblin Slayer had me shook when I found out. I couldn't believe that Yui Ishikawa voiced such a vibrant character like Hinaki from Aikatsu, because I'm only used to hearing her voicing emotionless dolls like Mikasa lol |

| Speaking about JoJo, probably Hideo Ishikawa voicing Polpo in Vento Aureo. Ishikawa is famous for giving voice to Itachi from Naruto, who is a calm and serious badass, so I was surprised when I hear him voicing Polpo, who is a minor villain, a lazy fucker and a very thicc boi. And the most strange thing is that, it worked very well. I honestly didn't know what kind of voice they were going to use on Polpo when Part 5 was announced, I thought they were going to give him either a high pitched or a deep, rough voice, but that deep, echoing, elegant voice was wonderful and mesmerizing. It made Polpo sound like the typical affably yet menacing mobster usually seen in fiction. I was very pleased with the result, to the point I ended even liking Polpo a lot at the end. |

| I remember being surprised seeing Kengo Kawanishi voicing Rei from Sangatsu because he sounded so similar to Hanae Natsuki in Your Lie in April lul also in photokano, I knew Kaori Mizuhashi was in it, but I was not expecting her to voice the character she did |

| Before I watched Bakemonogatari I already heard Chiwa Saito was a VA. Knewing vampires would be a theme in the anime and already seen some of the characters I instantly thought she would voice Shinobu or Hachikuji. Then when I saw Shaft was the studio I was almost 100% sure she would be voicing Shinobu. She also voiced Hazuki (loli vampire from an anime made by shaft in 2004). I started and it actually took me 3/4 episodes and a search to be sure she voiced Senjougahara. That it could be someone else then Shinobu was easily possible, but my seconds guesses would be Hachikuji or Nadeko the way the story of the anime seemed to be. Not that it bothered me in the end. She rocked it and I really like the way she voiced Senjougahara. She turned out to become one of my most loved characters. Pretty much the same happened with DIVB, but I was used to her voicing other characters then loli's and mascots so it wasn't to much of a shock. |

She even said she preferred her audition as Hitagi compared to whatever other character it was :P |

| For me it was when I found out that Akira Ishida voiced Fish Eye in Sailor Moon series. I mean, yeah, Fish Eye is male, but his voice sounded absolutely like he was voiced by female seiyu. Besides, look at him:  |
| When i'm still pretty new to anime, i was really surprised when i found out both Luffy and Naruto was voiced by a girl though.. XD As a side note, I've seen people surprised that Shimono Hiro voiced both Dabi and Zenitsu, lol. |

| The most shocking for me of stuff I recently watched has to be Daisuke Namikawa as Squealer at Shinsekai Yori. That completely blew my mind as I didnt watch anything else that he voiced something slightly similar to that.. Amazing performance overall |

| The first answer that came to my mind is not anime-related, but I watched all of "Futurama" (excluding the recent season) and was shocked when I found out afterwards that Fry, Zoidberg, and Professor Farnsworth were all voiced by the same guy. It never occurred to me at any point while watched the series that that was the case. Billy West is one talented man! When it comes to something anime-related, the only answer that I can think of right now is Kotono Mitsuishi. I was surprised when I found out that Sailor Moon and Juri from "Revolutionary Girl Utena" were both voiced by the same VA. I really like her range. |
