| I've just started to watch hunter x hunter but then remembered that there was a newer version. I've read that both versions are essentially the same but the reboot has better animation, soundtrack and is more faithful to the manga. Should I just watch the 2011 version or both? |

| I’d argue that the original has better visuals but that might just be me. I’d still recommend going straight for the remake though as it covers more content than the original, including hxh’s best arc, and overall has a better flow. If you found yourself really liking the remake watch the original afterwards for a slightly different experience. |

| I've seen people with either one of those in their favorite but still I'd recommend you picking the most recent one since there wasn't any major outcry about 2011 hunter x hunter. I've seen a bit of hunter x hunter 2011 on tv. |

| watch the 2011 version then when you'll have fallen in love and will have finished it and think it's a masterpiece watch the 1999 version because at that point you'll crave then watch the ovas then the movies then read the entire manga and then you can pray for togashi to finish the series one day |
| 2011 version is way better, especially for the Chimera Ant arc. The original one is really good too, however. So I’d say to watch both of them but if you don’t want to see both, watch the 2011 version. |

| The animation and music of the original one felt more serious and less cartoonish. I guess that is what I like better about it. Content-wise they are both great. I like that 2011 doesn't have fillers and the fact the 2011 version has adapted the chimera ant arc, to which the score of 9.11 is based on, basically. |
| Hunter X Hunter 2011 is a more complete adaptation, so it's not like you get extra info by watching the previous adaptation later. But if you enjoy one go ahead, you may like the other as well since they are the same story. |
| The newer anime adapts more of the manga. The old anime looks darker and has a more mysterious tone (which I prefer), but I'd say overall watching the newer version is probably the better time investment. |

To OP, imo if you want to go further into the story, watch the 2011 ver. but I prefer the 1999 ver. better, the animation might not be better, but I like the old school artstyle/animation more, the shading for one looks better for a series like HxH, whereas you see this really cute boi Killua in a shiny clear artstyle in the 2011 ver. and it just doesn't look right. The soundtrack is also better in the original to me, might be nostalgia speaking but the theme song is so good, very memorable. |

| I watched only the 2011 Hunter x Hunter. I also failed with the original and ended up dropping it. So try is all I can say. |

| Neither. Hunter x Hunter is a generic show with tons of asspull and fanservice. Bad art and animation with terrible and annoying characters. Please dump this garbage in the trash can it belongs and toss it in the space. |
