| missed opportunities: not getting yuudachi's VA for love detective chika since she's basically yuudachi mk 1 with a rack (no complaints about this) kaguya-sama in general focusing on the characters that are not her and therefore less likable not getting kohane's VA to voice the bird girl in shield hero ~piyo piyo [assorted chirp noises] not including wacky wakame in your literal beach episode endro but really why limit wacky wakame's exposure at all no shows enjoying kagawa life, that's a problem with these isekai shows, any sort of "another world" you go to will by definition not have a kagawa prefecture |

| #4 Magic Knight Rayearth. Good choice Japan. I'm watching that right now and I'm liking it a lot. Very good stuff. Umi is the best girl. This is the oldest mahou shoujo I ever watched since I still haven't touched Sailor Moon yet. Unless Kiki's Delivery Service counts as magical girl!?!? #2 Pop in Q. Still need to watch this one. Didn't know it was so highly regarded in Japan. |
| Magic Knight Rayearth might be the most "anime-like" anime I've ever seen tbh. I'm only on episode 12 but this show is Magical Girls who get trapped in another world and also they have mechas. Like this covers so many genres it's ridiculous. |

| Rayearth is one I want to watch this year... though I might not get to it til next year :P That depends on the next couple of seasons having less must-watch stuff than this one. Picked up Fight League: Gear Gadget Generators, second episode was kinda nice. Really bizarre that a half-length generic battle girl show has OP and ED among the best of the season. These are nice Crazy week. Mermaids went up on land, Kotobuki turned into Princess Principal... and Equilibrium? And I guess Mob and Jojo have been rather dramatic. Plus Boruto finally had another CGDCT-ish episode with Team 15. I hope Promised Neverland reaches a certain character before the season ends (it should), I think that will make me increase the score by at least a point ;PPP |

That's not how RAS comes across to me at all, based on that one song. They're actually good in every way. Bang Dream as a whole is a manufactured corporate production from the start, so it's hard to fit in a story about how "the big money producer is missing the point" without intentionally dulling down the output. There's even a scene where P-chan reins in one of her musicians by saying "simple is best," which is a notorious approach - dumbing down music to aim for higher mass appeal and sales - but RAS' song doesn't sound simpler or dumbed down compared to the other bands.
