Characters/character development/character relationships, how nen works, world-building, attention to detail, interesting, wide cast of characters, great animation, suspense, everything really played in hunter X Hunter's favor.

It's not even close. If you like things that are over-explained to you so much so that you question why a lot of it even needed to be explained at all, it's probably closer to a 10 then.

it's not

it's just is a Great show but nowhere near being a flawless or a classic

but if i had to explain why the show is Great

the character designs are relevant to their personal attributes

The OST has a tone exclusive to the show

the animation are always above average and that's gorgeous

the art style is unique and not generic while being faithful to the original

the power system is not broken

there is No filler nor is there a fan-service

the Antagonists have a brain

there is no plot armor but there are plot conveniences to be frank

the world building/lore is interesting, balanced, and not broken to make the supernatural stuff somewhat realistic so in short, it's just one of the least broken shows aimed at kids and that's it

it's not innovative, creative, or re-constructive, it's just a really imaginative show and that's it

The best character (Hisoka) barely gets any screentime. This series is at most 8/10 because of that.

It isn’t.

The Election arc undercut the masterful end to the Chimera Ant arc, and the series was left a bit more open ended than I would have liked despite said ending being passable.

It’s a great battle shounen, but it’s not a masterpiece.

I think HxH is a good show, but nothing irks me more than the pretentious fans who hype it up as revolutionary and the best thing since sliced bread. No folks, it's not "a deconstruction of the shounen formula" with it's liberal amounts of killing, edgy transformation scene, or antagonists slightly more interesting than the average villain in that don't just want to take over or end the world. The so called "in-depth" Nen system is quickly forgotten by powers that are utterly unexplainable by Nen anyways, making it not much different from Chakra anyways. The show was entertaining until the Greed Island arc, at which point it became fine, and then horribly dragged for sixty episodes during the Chimera Ant arc, with only a few memorable moments during the last portion of the series. Yes guys, it's very fun and all, but stop touting it as the end-all-be-all of anime.

it has flaws here and there but overall its one of the most fashionably executed shounen anime i've seen

The characters especially the villains, all of them actually feel like real people which very few shows do not just in anime, hisoka and meruem are among the best in shounen, the gon killua relationship, gon can be unlikable at times but very few shounen protagonists are as well written.
There's also the great use of tension and atmosphere (the palace invasion in a great example) and the nen power system

From what I can tell, having never seen it myself, it does worldbuilding very well while setting up an unorthodox and engaging shounen cast, and it's done with skillful execution. Sometimes that's all it takes for an anime to become a classic.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Nothing is perfect, but HxH comes pretty damn close. Very few pieces of visual media have chilled me to the bone like HxH. The four main leads are all extremely well-written and relatable.

The power system is intricate and sensible and seamlessly fits with each character. Every fight is intoxicatingly choreographed and has meaning much father beyond the average shounen-fare fight that mostly consists of "I must power up and beat this bad guy because he's evil and I'm good." The story structure is exceedingly innovative and unique, whether it be the incredibly stylish and immersive Yorknew City arc or the daring, avant-garde spectacle that was Chimera Ant. While those arcs are certainly the highlights of the series, every storyline that falls in between loses little to no depth and creativity. The gorgeous OST only adds that much more to the experience.

Not only is HxH technically sound and beautifully executed, it has a way of investing you so much into it's narrative. There are so many memorable moments from the show, ranging from Gon's development and fights with the mad clown Hisoka, the Phantom troupe's requiem, Killua's fall into despair and eventual moral redemption in CA and last but certainly not least, episode 131: Gon's infamous fight w/ Pitou. Moments like these are why I believe Hunter x Hunter to be the perfect anime for me. Plus, there are tons of shounen fans out there, and HxH being the best shounen ever created by a WIDE margin, it's bound to receive copious amounts of love. One of the few anime on this site that actually deserves it's high score and praise.

Basically one of my main gripe of this series, he kinda treats his fanbase like they are dumb. Trust me you don't want to get into the manga, because that is even worst, with text covering 90% of the page.

There’s nothing cliffhanger about the mains choosing to part ways due to the events leading up to the end. Kurapika’s focus was a one-off in the anime and Leorio was never the focus in the first place.

So yeah, it’s an open ending. It’s not ideal, but it’s not bad either.

Honestly, the OST wasn’t that great. It wasn’t actively bad, but it was nothing to write home about. The transitions into the ED were cool at times, but that was about it.

And who said so that it is? The score listed on MAL? A friend of yours? There really is no definitive answer here, since 10/10 is figuratively a nonsense term, a lot can sprung from it.

Is it wrong to enjoy anime? A high rating simply means that I found the series to be quite enjoyable not necessarily perfect. a 10 for me doesn't mean perfection, it simply means that the series in my eyes was good enough to warrant a 10. People who are picky about giving out 10's have that right, and those who give them out to a lot of series also enjoy that right.

but gon was annoying af during the chimera ant arc, he went all edge mode cuz a guy he knew for like 15 minutes got genderswapped
