People are committing suicides for many reasons these days, anime can be one of it. |

That sucks :/ . I mean many people have tendencies like that, but you can’t generalize something like that though. I personally don’t and haven’t ever and I think it just really depends on the circumstances of each person. Still though I’m sad to hear that that happened. |

I am personally a bit sceptical, but I think it's more likely that people with suicidal thoughts tend to be more likely to watch anime than the other way round. |

I used to be bored with life, hated studying was(am) socially inactive until i started watching anime. I think shows like FMAB, YLIA, AnoHana and Angel Beats changed my thinking towards life a bit. I thought anime was a medium that wanted watchers to take a look at the characters and remember their mistakes in life and to value their lives more (other than existing to sell itself of course). Its kind of sad to hear about such weak-willed people. These kind of idiots are what give anime and otakus a bad name. |

Anime and suicide could be related to each other but then again for anime to have an impact on a person it would need to take so much of their time that they would start to become anti-social |

Anime has commonly presented violence as an option which includes suicidal tendencies or self destructive behavior This is not limited to being a hikimori, but also violent rage which is often depicted in anime as heroic while in real life it's nonsensical. Many anime fans are unable to come around this fact and thus you have tragedies like this occur Anime should have more laws that dictate its plot to be more family friendly than let a lunatic artist freeflow his creativity. Only then could we prevent tragedies such as this one where people kill themselves. He caused so much pain to his family, and he put anime music on top of it. Not only is it disrespectful to his own life, he's made his parents dreaded with sorrow emotions with anime music. I have zero respect for the dead fellow but I seriously feel bad for his family and friends who have to find out that he live streamed his death with anime music in his room that showed how obsessed with anime culture. What a shame! |

I didn’t hear any sound though (don’t know if it’s on my end). That’s sad stuff though. Okay... does the video show him blowing his head off!? Yes and no. He does it on camera clearly and you see a bit on blood, but the kick of the shotgun sends him back so you don’t see his head or anything. Still I wouldn’t watch it if you don’t think you should. Edit: by blood I mean you see it on the walls and shit. |

What watching too much anime may bring with it might make you commit suicide, like never going out, not taking to people, spend all your money on figurines and pillows, that sort of stuff. |

Maybe more people with suicidal tendencies flock to anime, or fiction/art in general. Or maybe it's just equally spread. I don't know, I don't have the statistics. That being said, anime isn't to blame. No piece of art is to blame. If it wasn't anime, it would have been books or video games or other TV shows, and we'd be pointing our fingers at that. If we want real solutions, we should be focusing on increasing awareness and resources, not blaming artists. I believe he's in a better place now. |

it’s actually very sad that anime is always linked with depression or some sort of mental problem and for me, the platform is not problem, the problem itself lies in the disorder that some people have. i never seen an anime who encourage us to do something awful like that, well maybe there some with a darker theme, other than that, it’s fine. it actually can give you relief and good time but i wont make any assumption, he’s probably has his own circumstances that we clearly didnt know why. and maybe it’s unrelated to anime. and this is just extreme man, god. using a gun that powerful, and he livestreamed it, is he been bullied? are there people actually encourage him to do it?, may he rest in peace. |
