Why are people on the internet so evil? Alot of the time I see someone telling everyone to kill themselves. Do you think its a joke? I do not find it funny at all. Would you come up to a stranger on a street and tell them to kill themselves? I do not think so. |

There are no serious consequences most of the time, due to anonymity so they lose the fear aspect of wrong-doing. So it just comes down to personality and their own morals on the internet. It just so happens that their morals were different than yours/societies. |

As for the morality behind it, many people genuinely think it's moral to encourage some others to commit suicide. Specially those who are a "burden beyond repair". I know, but its much worse case on the internet. In real life you probably wont go around telling everyone to commit suicide. |

>Why are people on the internet so evil I think you're mistaken. It's just that there's no weight in their words that why they can say shit like any other human being wouldn't dare say in public, at least... Unless you're also an activist in real life and using internet just to shitpost so that'd probably work... Though chances of having MAL user as an activist would be very slim, I mean they have CE and I'm sure already happy with it. |

Would you come up to a stranger on a street and tell them to kill themselves? I do not think so. Yes, you've just answered yourself. It starts as a joke, like "dark humor", y'know? Jokes are funny, the first few times, I mean. Time passed, people got used to it, sadly the joke didn't disappear with its humor. It became people's behavior. And the result? People trying to be "cool" by saying such things, keyboard warriors, kitties behind Internet tigers, etc... Apparently, you will see this kind of people anywhere on the Internet, but real life? Ye... no. Also, welcome to the Internet, where anyone will say anything because they think they're anonymous. Well, atleast I wont. I am not going to act differently on the internet than in real life. |

They're usually 11 year old keyboard warriors. They want to get a sense of feeling more superior than another person while not damaging their rep irl. By doing negative stuff online, they really don't get negative stuff happening to them in their life(unless you like do dumb stuff while having a job and then get fired for negative social media content or something). Not sure if this is true (heard it from someone years ago), there once was like a Highschooler who went all keyboard warrior on World of Warcraft and a 20 something dude tracked him down and beated the living shit out of him. Sometimes I try to look up this article but have no luck in finding it(so again I can't say if it's true or not). |

Because there's zero consequences. Personally the online voice acting community has doxxed me and swatted me in an attempt to get me killed, as well as tried to end my career by getting me blacklisted and my YouTube Channel deleted. All out of nothing more than petty jealousy that I started rising towards the top of the online voice acting community as soon as I started (whereas most people will make zero progress no matter how many years they put in). I mean could you imagine in real life someone's personality rubbing you the wrong way and your response being to try and stab them to death or some shit? Talk about a bunch of fucking psychopaths. And there's literally nothing I can do about it other than continue to rise up and take immense satisfaction in how much it pisses them off and how much time they waste obsessing over me. The internet is a disgusting cesspool that sucks away people's capacity for empathy, twisting their hearts turning them into cruel animals. The internet is becoming a massive problem as a significant percentage of young people now a days have become genuinely garbage human beings (if you can even still call them human anymore). I'm not letting my future kids near any of this shit and good parents would do the same limiting internet time to small amounts. |

A lot of people are very ruthless online. There always seems to be the desire of what they can eek or push out the most, this comes from pushing the victims' boundaries. Pretty fucked overall. People tell me to kill myself all the time in other places online where I keep very anonymous (not like on MAL where I am very open about myself). You just gotta fight fire with fire. I’ve never told anybody to kill themselves online or irl but if they tell me ‘kys’ I just reply and say something like, ‘Lol’ ‘You first’ ‘Only if you agree to a suicide pact with me’ ‘We can both kill each other at the same time’ ‘You’re just mad / jealous because...’ ‘But if I kill myself I won’t get to see you get your karma’ ‘I’m going to fuck your mother and you’re going to watch’ |

The first and the last both seem somewhat effective. I've never been harassed or bullied so I may be wrong here but I really can't see how this would repel these people. Especially the jealous one. Wouldn't It just pour oil on the fire? |

Yeah the internet can be a rough place sometimes. I've thought before about what @Kyotosomo said about not wanting his future kids spend more than a small amount of time on the internet. But the internet just has so many possibilities. So much information to learn. Hell I've made a lot of friendships on the internet that have made my life a lot better. I don't want my future kids to miss out on that. But its too bad there's no way to protect them from the shadier parts of the internet. I guess the only thing you can do is teach them how to navigate it safely. |
